Spotify not longer working on Windows 10, Crashes

Solved!

Spotify not longer working on Windows 10, Crashes

When I open the app on my desk top, it acts like it is playing the song but the time never changes on the track, does not matter what song I choose. Then it will freezer up and not let me do anything and I have to close the program. Then if I try to reopen it will tell me that it is not responding.
I have reloaded the app multiple times
I have updated my computer
I have cleared the catches
I have rebooted my router.
I have done everything requested in trouble shooting suggestions.

Found the issue, I am using a Docking station with my Dell Latitude laptop to run multiple screens and some accessories. The Docking station has it's own power supply and apparently was causing Spotify to crash. Once I unplugged from it and powered it off for a few minutes the issue went away.

Thank you for the help.

Hiya Gress,

I'm sorry to hear that you've already tried several troubleshooting steps and are still experiencing issues with Spotify on your desktop. Here are some additional tricks up my sleeve you should try:

  1. Make sure your graphics card drivers are up to date:

    • Press the Windows key + X and select Device Manager
    • Expand the Display Adapters category
    • Right-click on your graphics card and select Update Driver
    • Follow the prompts to update your graphics card driver
  2. Disable hardware acceleration in Spotify:

    • Open Spotify on your desktop
    • Click on the down arrow icon in the top right corner
    • Select Settings
    • Scroll down to the bottom of the page and toggle off "Hardware Acceleration"
  3. Disable third-party plug-ins:

    • Open Spotify on your desktop
    • Click on the down arrow icon in the top right corner
    • Select Settings
    • Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on Show Advanced Settings
    • Under Startup and Window Behavior, toggle off "Show desktop overlay when using media keys"
  4. Run the app in compatibility mode:

    • Right-click on the Spotify shortcut icon on your desktop and select Properties
    • Go to the Compatibility tab
    • Check the box that says "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
    • Select Windows 8 from the dropdown menu
    • Click Apply and then OK
  5. Try running Spotify as an administrator:

    • Right-click on the Spotify shortcut icon on your desktop
    • Select Run as Administrator
    • If the issue goes away, right-click on the shortcut icon again and select Properties
    • Go to the Compatibility tab and check the box that says "Run this program as an administrator"
    • Click Apply and then OK

If none of these steps work, you may want to consider uninstalling Spotify completely and then reinstalling it. If the issue persists, you may need to contact Spotify's customer support for further assistance.

Keep me posted homeslice,

Thank you for that help, I have tried all of these solutions and nothing seem to help. I have reloaded it multiple time with no change. If I close the program after trying to run it I get ( this program is not responding).

As a note, I now remember doing a Windows update last Thursday night and today would have been the first time I tried to use it since before the update.
