Spotify starts playing randomly on my Windows 11 laptop.

I use Spotify on my Android Phone and on my Windows 11 laptop. For a long time now, I find that at random times of the day or night (even when I am sleeping) Spotify will start playing on my Windows 11 Laptop. Obviously this is not a major problem during the day, but it certainly gets me in trouble with the family when it does it in the middle of the night.

The only way I have found to prevent this is to ensure that the Spotify Application is completely shutdown on the laptop when I leave it.

I have tried uninstall and reinstall of the app. I have also tried the Windows Store app as well as the .exe install, all has the same problem.

Thanks for reaching out. The most likely cause of this is that some device is connected to either the Spotify account or the PC itself and is causing the playback to start. Consider checking for and disconnecting any of the following:

• Other devices, including smart speakers, smart watches, TVs and the like that may be linked to your Spotify account
• Other PCs that might start it via Connect
• Keyboards or other peripherals with dedicated media keys. 

If none of that helps, also consider securing your account as shown here.
