Hello,
I've got a problem with playing local files in spotify. After each song it stops playing. This weirdly enough is only the case for local songs and not for steamed songs.
I think it might have something to do with a windows update. When I found out, two days ago, I recovered my system to the state before the windows update, and then it worked again. Last night it automatically updated windows and same problem of not continuous playing occured again.
Someone with a solution? It is really annoying!
Cheers!

Settings were already as described. Tried turning effects on, with no success though.
Is there any debug-version/mode or similar some of us could try and send you a log-dump or something?
I tried all you're suggest to us ... but always the same bug 😞
I've put in my selection, titles of spotify and own mp3 titles : the titles of spotify are linked one after the other, when I arrived at the first own mp3, the lecture stopped at the end of this mp3.
No strange settings or effects were selected in the Realtek HD Audio configuration.
I did however realise the quality was set to a lower default. 16 Bit, 48000 Hz. Changing that to 24 Bit, 48000 Hz did nothing either.
Well.. I found a way to make it work.. but for this problem, I'm not sure if I'll recommend it.. I had to reinstall my Windows 7 anyways. And when I installed Spotify again, it worked as if there had been no problems. And I didn't install quicktime or anything else. But I think it would be a bit extreme for all other users here?
David, perhaps I can shed some light on the root cause of this problem (or maybe it's just in my case).
I have two types of Local Files in spotify: some files were imported from CDs, and others were downloaded from datpiff.com and other free sources. I've noticed that ONLY the web-downloaded files have trouble autoplaying. In fact, the CD-imported files autoplay just as well as Spotify streaming tracks.
So, in short, I think it might have to do with file type, size, format, whatever...I don't really know my way around all those details but thought I'd share the distinction I noticed.
They are all MP3 files.
This is happening to me too, with MP3. Spotify has been around a long time now, so basic issues like playback should not be a problem, and yet I am constantly having new playbak issues. Very disapointing.
Hi,
I converted my mp3 tracks to m4a and now it works. Somehow.
Will probably not help many, but...
Upgraded my Windows 7 to Windows 8 this week. Spotify is now working correct even with local files....
Any update on this? It is becoming so annoying that I have to start using Itunes again. So why am I paying for spotify?
I have local tunes lined up (that worked with previous versions of spotify, and after each song it stops. I need to double click a different track, and then the track again to make it play, on and on, ad infinitum.
My files are on a network share, but this has never been a problem before either.
Some nights my playlists will play through the night. Other nights they will not. I do not use local files. I only use play lists, and if I'm going to sleep, say, seven hours, I make sure the playlists I use go at least that long. Yet so many mornings I awaken to a silent room, when what I want is the beautiful music. I'd like to know how to fix this, please.
COME ON!

What happens if you move a selection of tracks over to your main hard drive of your computer?
I have moved one folder of mp3s to my documents on my c drive and tried to play that album, but I get the same issue.
This is embarassing. Spotify should be ashamed.
+1 still having these issues
Evidently Spotify has had trouble reproducing this type of problem. I think it has something to do on how they encode the local libraries. Some of my initial issues regarding playback of local files required the installation of a specific MP3 decoder but that did not clear up the intermittent stopping in play lists for local files. The only "solution" that I've seen posted that appears to work is to do a re-install of the OS and then install Spotify. This really appears to be beyond their current technical scope or priority... it's been over a year. Hopefully they'll soon have a competitor that's functionally worthy. - W
I'm getting rather tired of this. I understand Spotify is having trouble reproducing the bug, but it's not just a single user having this issue...
Thank goodness I never fell for the paid service. 😐
Do I really need to threaten to remove Spotify completely and find a working alternative in order to get a solution to this horribly annoying problem?
I hate to be "that guy" but this is the ONLY issue preventing me from buying Spotify premium. I would be happy to provide more detailed information or even remote access to my machine for investigation into the issue, if it's really impossible to reproduce on the magical computers at Spotify HQ.
