Hello,
I've got a problem with playing local files in spotify. After each song it stops playing. This weirdly enough is only the case for local songs and not for steamed songs.
I think it might have something to do with a windows update. When I found out, two days ago, I recovered my system to the state before the windows update, and then it worked again. Last night it automatically updated windows and same problem of not continuous playing occured again.
Someone with a solution? It is really annoying!
Cheers!

Does this issue occur on all types of files or just a specific type too? It might help the staff debug.
Next time it happens, right click on the local track, press the "Open Containing Folder" option, then inside Windows Explorer, right click on the file again, go to "Properties" and it will tell you the type of file.

We use the same files here, on the other computer works, other not. So that's not the case I suppose. But mostly they are 320kbps mp3.
for me it happens with
in short: local audio files.
Its been happening to me too and totally frustrating especially as I have only just become a premium member!!! Might have to think about cancelling coz this isn't what I signed up for!"!!!!
Paid as well (though not for long if you guys can't figure this out soon).
David, yes I realize that for the most part, Spotify for desktop has much fewer bugs than mobile, which is where I've been getting most of my problems. However, the problem does still occur on desktop.
I am also on paid subscription. The issue might be fixed from reinstalling desktop Spotify, but I've just tried reinstalling mobile on iOS and still getting trouble playing more than one local file in a row.
Thanks for the continued support.
I'm using free Spotify.
I can't find the SIMBL thing on my computer and I'm having the issue with mp3 files that previously worked fine.
Hello, for me also the problem persists, regardless of the attempt.
I must say though that I found the problem on my main PC mode premium.
Thanks for help 😉
Unpaid subscription for me. problem occurs with .mp3
No problem with MPEG-4 files though.
New here but not to Spotify! Been using it since almost the begining and on a paid version.
Have read through the posts and are having exact the same problems as anyone else!
/D
I've double checked my file type and it is happening with mp3's within the full range of kbps.

how to get stuff to play
Hello,
you will find above, the version of Spotify.
I use a PC desktop in Windows XP Professional 32-bit fully updated system, device drivers ... (I am a computer scientist and regularly checks my pc).
Thanks for the time you spent helping us 😉
Windows computer
Windowes 7 ultimate 64bit.
Spotify version: 0.8.4.124.ga,3559d86
What works:
- Playing more than one song after another when streaming
-everything else... but:
What doesn't work:
- When playing Mp3s, it stops when the song is done, forcing me to press "next" or "back" to skip songs.
------------------
It hasn't been a problem before. And I don't have Quicktime installed on my pc as far as I can see.
And all the local files are MP3s, and it used to work just fine a few weeks earlier.
So yeah, do you have any ideas how to fix this?
nell wrote:what works:
- queueing two local songs after each other
Huh, very odd! Can anyone confirm this too? Thanks for that, Nell....
D4ffPower - Could you try installing Quicktime? That might get local files working for you.
Thanks for your reports and information so far guys. Please keep them coming in.
Mine is:
Windows Vista Home Basic
Spotify 0.8.4.124.ga3559d86
(I also use Spotify Mobile on iPhone iOS6 but don't seem to have any problems with that)
On Nell's point, just checked and mine DOES play consecutive local files from the Play Queue but only sometimes!
They seem to play consecutively if i have manually queued them - i.e. they show in yellow. Local files that appear in the Play Queue just because they're in my playlist - i.e. they show in grey - still don't play consecutively. See image attached - two local files, first queued manually, then the same two files queued automatically. Spotify will play track 1 then track 2, then stops. I have to manually start track 3. Spotify plays track 3 then stops again. I have to manually start track 4. Hope this is useful.
