Spotify taking a long time to respond/pause/play music

After running Spotify for 30+ minutes, I will run into an issue where when I try to pause (or play) music, there will be anywhere from a 15-second to a 5-minute delay before Spotify will respond. The delay usually gets worse the longer I have Spotify running. Note that the window does not (usually) go white with the standard "-Program- Not Responding" bit.

I run the latest version of Windows 10, have 16Gb of RAM, a Ryzen 5 1400 CPU, and a GTX1080 graphics card. I (usually) don't have anything significant running when I am listening to Spotify (Chrome, Outlook, and Slack are the only "always running" programs that have open).

I'm having the same problem, but the delay also extends to adding a song to the queue or a playlist (as well as using search or playlist filter).

If I restart the app it works again, but only for a few minutes.

Never had this happen before.

I'm on Windows 7 and only running Opera, Steam and Slack in the background.
