Stop app from adding playlist

Stop app from adding playlist

OK - I add 4 tracks to my queue and play them. That's all I want to play - just these 4 tracks.

No matter what I do, the Spotify Win 10 app adds a playlist (I don't know if its just the first playlist in my short list of playlists, or somehow picked randomly) and inserts as "Next from:JazzMix1" (the playlist Spotify selected).

I don't want this played. I want Spotify to stop after playing the 4 tracks I selected to play.

And to cover the point, AUTOPLAY is off.

How do I stop this? The playlist selected has nothing to do with what I want to listen to now.

Spotify does not know what I want to do, and if the app insists on playing things I don't want to hear its of no use.

Whose in charge? Me or Spotify???

thx for any suggestions.

Hi there @mh-classical,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community!

If you're already playing anything (a playlist, an album, etc.) and then add songs to the Queue, those songs will be played next, but after the added songs end, the app will continue playing what was being played before you added the songs to the Queue.

To avoid this, you can add your desired songs to the Queue, then open it and remove all the songs you don't want to listen to. That way, the playback will stop after your added songs end.

Hope this helps. If you have any questions or need anything else, the Community is here for you.

Cheers 🙂

No - that doesn't work. That would be too easy.

Spotify has a mind of it's own. There is a list called JazzMIx1. I might have created it, not really sure. It owns my account. No matter what I do it appears as Next From:

I can't delete it - a delete is simply ignored.

Not to mention that the DeleteQueue button only sometimes occasionally appears. Mostly not. So to delete the list I need to select and delete all the tracks. A waste of time since they just re-appear.

A uninstall of Spotify, deleted files, and reinstall - makes no difference.

To be honest I'm tired of wasting time with this broken interface/app. I have access to Amazon Prime music. Maybe not the same breadth of music, but at least I don't have to fight the app.

Here is a post I found on some else's blog:

I find queue wrangling on Spotify to be an exercise in futility and frustration.

That about nails it.

thx for your suggestion.

Hey @mh-classical,

Thanks for your reply.

We're sorry to hear you feel that way. This is indeed an odd behavior, so if you'd like, there are some other troubleshooting steps that we can try.

To check if this is rather account-related, could you try logging in to a different account, like a friend's or relative's, on your PC and let us know how it works? It's also worth trying logging in to your account on a different PC, if possible, to see if you can replicate this behavior.

On another note and just to be sure, did you follow all the steps in this article when reinstalling the app? Those are for a clean reinstall, which is more thorough than a regular one and can be helpful in removing any corrupted files that might cause trouble. We also suggest downloading the app again from the Microsoft Store.

Keep us in the loop.
