'This song is not available' Shows for EVERY song I try to play

Solved!

'This song is not available' Shows for EVERY song I try to play

Hi!

I am unable to get spotify on my work PC to play any music. This has been an issue that has come and gone for a few weeks.

For any given track I try to play (literally any) I recieve the message 'This song is not available. If you have the file on your computer you can import it.'

My spotify works fine on my phone and my home laptop (which works fine in both OSX, and bootcamp windows)

I have tried going through the process of

-logout of spotify

-delete the spotify folder inside the roaming/appdata folder

-uninstall spotify

-re-install latest version

No help. Infact, I have previously been able to play tracks that were in my cache, but can now not even do that!

This worked for me:

Could we just confirm if you're still experiencing this on your Windows PC.

If so, could you please restart your computer, make sure Windows is up to date and then give Spotify another try. If you're still running into the same issue, try these steps:

  1. Right-click the sound icon in the taskbar located at the bottom right of the screen and select Playback Devices from the context menu.
  2. Select the current playback device in use and by default it should be the speakers. Double-click on it to open its properties window.
  3. Go to Advanced section and change the bit rate to either of the following - 24bit/44100 Hz or 24bit/192000Hz - depending on the speaker configuration.

If the issue is still unresolved, try this:

  1. Launch Start Menu, search for Device Manager and then launch it.
  2. Expand Sound and audio devices.
  3. Right-click on the current sound driver and choose uninstall.
  4. Finally, click on Scan for hardware changes and the updated driver will be automatically installed.

That's it. Your computer speakers should now be able to play sound normally. If the sound is still not working, then try downloading and installing the latest sound card drivers for Windows 10 from the manufacturer's website.

Hi all,

This issue seems to have been resolved by upgrading to Windows 10. Unfortunately I dont have any solution for anyone on other operating systems, but I'm fairly certain the upgrade to Windows 10 is still free for another week or so.

I hope this works. I use Mac OS Sierra.
I just solved the problem doing this:

Went to my settings / Local Files / Show songs from

I turned off all 3 options:

Itunes
Downloads
My music

Now I can play them all.

So no matter what options you have turned on or off just turn them all off (and on again if you want) and this could solve your problem.

The same problem have been solved (ish) in another thread: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Help-Desktop-Linux-Windows-Web/This-track-is-not-available-for-all-...

Downloading an older version of spotify will help, link to where you can find this in the solution post in the thread above.

Great! this solved my problem.

As with the author of the original post, this cannot really be marked as a
'solved' problem, as installing an older version is not really a solution.

any resolution to this?

it doesn't help for me, i'm using mac.

Is Spotify doing anything to address this issue? I've been having the same problem for months and have to keep reverting back to the older verstion of Spotify. This is not a long term fix.

I am find the same issue today as well. Would love a solution to this issue.

I'm using a Windows 10 64-bit machine.

I have had zero response from Spotify, only other users with the same
issue. I've just gotten used to the fact I have to go through this crap
every time I close Spotify

Same issue on my end.

  • logged out
  • deleted folder in AppData\Roaming
  • Uninstalled
  • Reinstalled latest version

No dice. This happens every few weeks or so and the issue seems to resolve itself, but it's getting to be a tired nuisance. Installing an older version isn't a fix for me. C'mon Spotify..

i have the same **bleep** here

After some inspection, it turned out that the audio for the machine was not working due to Windows 10 bug related to the audio... The audio had to be uninstalled, and then re-installed, and updated. Played the song on Spotify, and now it's playing. I believe it is possible that it's the machine that's the issue, not Spotfiy. The songs won't play due to audio issues with the hardware.

Hope this helps others

This SUCKS. Mine isn't working either.

mine neither. about to cancel premium subscription.

Got the same problem going on every day. Can't play any song (Dell Latitude E6440, Win7). Reinstalling doesn't help, cleaning cache doesn't help. Whenever I download and install an old version of Spotify it works, but the darn thing automatically updates every time I close the app.

I am really pissed, nothing is working.

Same whith me.

I find restarting the computer to work, altho its anoying as crud.

I'm currently using mac, and my spotify has been working well for few
months until now.
Thank you

My spotify now works normally
Currently i'm using macbook

Thanks,

but the issue is not that my computer cannot make sound, just the spotify
says "this song is not available". All other sound works fine on my PC, and
the tracks I am trying to play work fine on other devices.

My only current solution is to uninstall the software and re-install an
older version. This would not be a problem, but spotify auto updates to the
latest version every time I close the software, causing the issue to occur
again.

If we could disable the auto update features, it would not be a concern for
me.

Im having the same issue, have done all the same steps as suggested here and else where.

the only thing that works is installing a old version. I know nothing is wrong with my speakers or audio devices as everything else is working.

I work in IT so im not stupid when it comes to these things and nothing seems to work, just FYI im on Windows 10 64X.

I cant belive Spofity havent fixed this issue yet when so many people are having this issues from what i can see on the web. Please sort it out Spofity
