This track is not available for all tracks

Solved!

This track is not available for all tracks

Hello.

Two days ago out of the blue Spotify desktop app started showing "This track is not available" for all the tracks.

I have basically tried all the tips to remedy this problem but without any success.

I did:

- removed sound drivers

- disabled  and reenabled local storage

- disabled high quality streaming

- reinstalled the app

- logged to the app on another computer

- Tweaked sound device settings (disable enhancments etc)

My setup

- Dell Latitude 5450

- Windows 7 Pro 64bit

- Sound playing through dac/amp via usb (tried to play songs without it as well)

Other facts:

- I have premium account

- Spotify works on other machines (computer, tablet, phone)

- On the machine where desktop app does not work I also installed alternative Spotify client - Clementine. After adding my Spotify account it played my playlists without a problem.

This paragraph I would like to dedicate to Spotify desktop app devs.

Being a programmer I can clearly see that the problem is not with machine or OS configuration but with desktop app itself.

Many paying customers reported this issue over the months and the fact that this bug is still present is unacceptable.

Shame on you Spotify devs, shame (bell ringing), shame....

2. Manufacturer (eg: Dell) LG

3. Operating System (eg: Windows 10) Windows 7

4. Spotify version (Eg: 1.0.20) The latest

5. Have you tried a clean reinstall

? Yes and it took care of the problem

I was running Windows 8, and NOTHING worked. Then I installed an older version of Spotify, the one that Spotify was likely putting out when Windows 8 was first released. AND IT WORKED! try hunting down an older version and see if that helps.

Since I had my account before 2011 this worked for me!

Problem:

When you log into Spotify, you find that all your account information seems to have disappeared. If you are a Premium subscriber, you also find that your account has dropped down to Spotify Free.

This is most likely to happen to those who created their Spotify account before September 22nd 2011. In other words, users who chose their own Spotify username when they created their account.

The likely explanation for this is that a new Spotify account has been created, using your Facebook login information.

Solution:

  1. In the Spotify desktop application, log out (File > Log out..)
  2. In the login box, now log back in again, using your Spotify username and password. This will log you back into your original account.
  3. However, your Facebook account will still be connected to the new Spotify account. To break this connection, connect to Facebook from within the desktop application. You can do this in Preferences > Social Network
(Preferences is found under the Edit menu on Windows, and under Spotify on Mac)
You can disconnect from Facebook after that, if you wish.

If the above doesn't help, does not apply to you, or if you have created a subscription to Unlimited or Premium on the newly created account, please have a look at our Support site for solutions. This article will get you started.

My issue was resolved by installing an older version. While the issue is temporarily resolved, the overall issue is definitely NOT resolved.

Hey guys!

Thanks for all of the info you've sent so far, we're passing it on to our Tech team. They're already aware of this and are working on a fix at the moment.

Any updates will be posted here. Thanks for your patience!

The only thing that works though

Is they're really working ? 😞 I have this problem for 5 days at now... i'm really upset 'cause I've got a premium... 😕

It's been two weeks since the Moderator post informing us that they are working on it and at least 6 months since the problem was originally reported. Any updates? Any estimate on how long until we get an update to fix this?

I cancelled my account. I hate being locked out of content I paid for.  Good luck to everyone else!

I've been facing this problem for months now.

Temporary solution is to install older version (1.0.24 in my case) and to block updates (by changing update.json file read only attribute).

What is current status of work on that issue?

Ps. Of course I have Spotify Premium.

Mine updated automatically today again and the problem remains.  I have had to reinstall an older version (again).  Your attention to this problem is long overdue.

Same here, win10.

The webplayer works though, but it has its own problems since a few months (3 seconds freezes).

This did not work for me.
How in the world did you contact "Spotify support" directly?

I just started having this problem on my desktop with Windows 10 64 bit. Custom build, Realtek ALC889 audio chipset. Drivers downloaded today version 6.0.1.7541. If I am using my speakers to play music, I immediately get the "Track unavailable" error. But if I switch output to my Gamecom 780 USB headphones, it will play just fine. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Spotify, uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, to no avail.

How is this not the top priority for Spotify devs to fix?

It is an outrage that this bug isn't fixed yet.

I have been a premium customer for 7 years but If there is a way for me to transfer my playlists to another music service I will change in an instant.

Stop adding a lot of pointless features and focus on having the basic functionality in a working shape!

This has started happening to me again.  It stopped for about two weeks.

Devs?  Hello?  Is anybody out there?

Back to an old version.

My son had the same problem. Apparently there are lot of causes and thus, lot of solutions... People keep accusing the devs, but they have to deal with many sound cards, drivers, network issues, etc.

Anyway, on Windows 10, he right-clicked on the sound icon in the tray, went to Play peripheral (or something similar, I translate from French...), clicked on the peripheral he uses (headphones / speakers), clicked on Properties, and went to the Improvements tab (I don't have this one in my computer: probably depends on driver).

He saw a checkbox "suppress all improvements" (like bass boosting, etc.), checked it... and Spotify started to work!

That's only one possible solution, I fear, but it wasn't presented here yet, so I thought I should share it.

And it shows that the problem isn't simple: Windows isn't a monolithic system...

Hey All!

Thanks for your patience. Our tech folks are aware of this and working hard backstage. All your feedback is being passed on to them and we hope to have a fix soon.

Thanks for bearing with us.

Cheers,

James.

I've acutally been having this issue on my Samsung Galaxy s6 and I'm paying for the subscription. When I got the phone back in July, Spotify was perfectly fine. Barely 2 days later, I couldn't access anything outside of my downloads. All it would say is: "This song is not available". Even up until today, I continue to see the same issue. I've seen solutions for iPhone, laptops, and desktop Spotify apps but nothing particular for anroid mobile phones. What's the deal?

This issue crops up for me pretty much every week. I end up removing spotify, deleting all AppData, restarting computer, removing headphones, etc. After about an hour of messing around some combination of the above gets it working again, only for the same thing to happen in a week. It gets quite frustrating, because I really do like Spotify.
