I've had a message in my Spotify inbox for about 4 months now. No matter how many times I open the message(or listen to the track inside) it continue to say I have 1 new message. This happens on all three computers that I have Spotify installed on.
Two machines are running Windows 8.1, the other running Windows 7. All three are x64.
The Android app does not display this unread message(according to that, the message doesn't even exist. It says I have no messages in my inbox).
Same issue here, the following solution attemps have been unsuccessful:
Viewing the notifications
Reinstalling
Relogging with a different account
Clearing local file remnants
Installing older version and updating
Receiving new notifications
I was seeing this issue on my dock. I quit the app, removed it from the dock and then replaced it on the dock from the Applications directory. This worked because the icon in the Applications directory was not showing the notification so therefore the new dock icon didn't show it either.
Same problem, can't find any unread message, still see a 1 notification all the time. Version 1.0.6.80.g2a801a53
I've had this issue for 9 months now. Can't seem to ditch that message. Even tried reading it on mobile devices etc. Never goes away from my windows 8.1 desktop app.
Same thing here, very annoying! I'm on Windows 7 and have clicked on every message, spam or not. Please fix this to always show the correct number!
Same Problem here.
Got Spam from a User. Tried to ban him. Nothing happended. So now he is still in the Inbox and there is 1 Unread Message...stayed in contact with the Support, but nothing will help. Personally I think, that this is a Error in their System but...
Yeay, tried everything, uninstall Spotify...formatting the System...
Can anyone help? 😕
And sry for my English...not native Speaker
Same problem here. All my macs show a phantom unread message. Annoying. VERY Annoying. Wanna scratch with my bare hands that red one. must.stop.looking.
Hmm, I have also blocked some spam users. Could it be that their undread messages still count towards the total even though we cannot see them anymore?
I think I found a potential workaround. I opened the mobile app. There, notifications from blocked users still appeared. I clicked those and now the notification is gone in the desktop app as well.
Bumping yet again. I wish that mobile inbox trick worked, but my mobile inbox says it's empty.
BUMP
I'm still having this problem. I've tried everything including mobile, signing out, deleting and reinstalling the app on my computer (mac) and this message will not go away. It's driving me insane.
Please halp.
In the software version of Spotify I went to Account, then when it went to my web browser and showed me my details, I went to the Web Player link at the bottom of the page. On the left side with the navigation menu, at the bottom was also notifcations, and clicking that cleared my software Spotify player of notifications too (bell icon).
Of course, I can't see any of the icons on that web player but that's another issue. It's kind of weird that I can't click on the Spotify notification icons anymore - it doesn't do anything at all, not even show me my old notices.
On Windows 7 with custom Firefox browser.
I have the same problem, i have 3 notifications in the bell icon but i cant click over the icon button, and i have two more buttons at right of the bell, one is like a Inbox and another with my picture profile but i cant do nothing at all there. This 3 buttons dont work in my laptop windows spotify app. Thanks.
Ok so I finally got it to go away w/ some help from Spotify customer service. Here are the steps I took to elimiate it (using Mac osx)
To change the notification emails you receive from Spotify:
I don't know why that worked but it did.
Hey how about another bump for this 1.5 year old bug. None of the things in this thread work for me.
Installed spotify on windows 8.1
Read all new messages in spotify.
Notification icon would not go away.
Googled for a solution, found this thread.
Clicked on "Help --> About Spotify" and it said something like "click here to update spotify".
Clicked to update.
I'm now on 1.0.20.101.ge6957e14 and the notification icon has disappeared.
This might be a method to get rid of this, i dunno, good luck.
Easy fix--
Per what was already said -- go to the mobile app on your phone. Open up your inbox (it will default to "Activity, make sure you click "messages".) Even if you have already viewed a message, either click it again or just delete them. Once they have all either been viewed or deleted (viewed messages will not have the little blue dot next to them), completely close down Spotify on your computer and re-open it.
This should clear your notifications without having to shut them off!
deleted all the messages in my mobile, but it still shows up in the app.
So this didn't help 😞
