SpotifyWebHelper continuously crashing with new update

SpotifyWebHelper continuously crashing with new update

I am running desktop Spotify ver 0.9.15.27 on Windows 7 and ever since I updated I keep getting messages saying SpotifyWebHelper has crashed. I'll close the program, but it will launch again and the cycle starts once more. Every so often clicking on "check the web for a solution" will make it stop for a while, but eventually it will pop back uspotifywebhelper, Windows, windows 7p again. Does anyone know of a solution to this? I unchecked Allow Spotify to be started from the Web (another thread suggested to do that) and it didn't make any difference. I've also tried restarting my computer.

EDIT for clarification: When I say I close the program I mean closing SpotifyWebHelper, not Spotify itself

Hello: The SpotifyWebHelpers load different web elements of the app. When this happens are you able to notice which part of the desktop app is no longer loading correctly? Something should load oddly after one of these stops running and crashes maybe images somewhere in the app are not loading correclty and look blank or maybe Activity for you is acting up and not displaying correctly?. You can also try doing a clean uninstall and reinstall in case the update corrupted things. The update that comes through the app is a web update, if you go here http://download.spotify.com/Spotify%20Installer.exe?_ga=1.186674219.2066049722.1408173710

and download the full installer it will be version number 0.9.15.27 now instead of the previous version. I usually download these when they become available as they work better installing the app in most cases then the in app web updater. Let us know if the full installer fixes things ok?

I am experiencing the exact same issue the OP described, ever since installing the new update (to desktop version 0.9.15.27). I have been using the desktop Spotify app since 2011 but this has never happened before.

Unfortunately uninstalling/reinstalling separately from the website (which I did twice yesterday, just to make sure) does not affect this issue.

I tried poking around in the application to see if I could find out what was malfunctioning, but I could not find any glitches anywhere ... the half-dozen or so SpotifyHelper.exe*32 processes I see in Task Manager are running just fine, but ever single time Spotify attempts to restart the lone SpotifyWebHelper.exe*32 process, it almost-immediately crashes (generating the pop-up Windows error message, SpotifyWebHelper has stopped working).

Here are the problem details, if it helps:

It's getting annoying...

I have exactly the same problem (same signature) for couple of weeks now. Please do something about it, because it starting to become a deal breaker as no solution is offered anywhere on the Internet.

I've had the same issue for a few weeks time now and it's fairly irritating. It seems to happen everytime I start up Chrome.

+1 I am also experiencing this issue, I even recently re-installed windows 7 and both installs it happens. I am using chrome as well. It seems to happen randomly or when I'm on facebook. Very aggravating, someone please fix this.I love spotify but I hate crash dialogs popping up all day.

I'm getting this too. Spotify ver 0.9.15.27 on Windows 7... had the app for ages and never had an issue until recently.

I've turned off web helper/startup in the Spotify options and tried to remove SpotifyWebHelper from start-up in Windows, doesn't help.

Very frustrating!

I get this too. It happens most when I use the radio and yes, the next button and play buttons on the radio then stop working (the native buttons on the bottom of the desktop player still work).  I have tried the regular install and the updates and it's still happening. GIANT pain in the butt.

What's really good though is that no one from Spotify cares to post come comment here.

Same repeated crashing here. Win 7 Home, fully updated latest version of Spotify. Also using Airfoil and Chrome in case those things are related to this issue. Very annoying indeed.

This just keeps getting worse. SpotifyWebHelper crashes on my 2 pcs - at home (Win 7, fully updated) and at work (Windows 8.1, fully updated as well).

It's been like this for over a month, seriously, fix this!

Web helper is not even starting anymore, when it does it crashes instantly.

I found what's not working for me, I can't control the playback from just hovering over the program on the taskbar. The playback buttons are not showing up for me.

I have the same issue: windows 7 pro, spotify ver. 09.15.27. (premium)

Had this problem for more then over a mounth now, would be nice if spotify cared??

I get a lot of this issues when my computer is starting or when CPU usage is maxing out (dual core laptop)

I got this error since 1-2 month. No solution yet. If spotify didnt care about this problem i will delete this *app from my PC.

Same here. It crashes every time I power up the PC. Using latest version of Spotify, Windows 7 and FireFox. Just registered here to say just this. 🙂 Please, Spotify people, fix it.

EDIT: Hmm... I might have a solution or piece of solution for this. I have clicked off Spotify to run automatically when computer starts. Same goes with spotifywebhelper. But I noticed that for some reason I have a second SpotifyWebHelper in automatically running programs. I clicked that one off so it doesn't automatically start anymore. And also it can't crash when Windows is starting. Must investigate more, if it still crashes when Spotify is on.

But maybe I must also run some register cleaner software or any other ideas to get rid of that second SpotifyWebHelper? Some kind of mistake of Spotify at some version in building installation packages?

Hi

I just renamed the file "SpotifyWebHelper.exe" to "SpotifyWebHelper.exe.removed" (so that it won't start) and problem disappeared.

Haven't had any problems with that exe-file missing.

Thanks mate - unfortunetly is doesn't work for me. The SpotifyWebHelper.exe issue disappear, but then I can no longer see the album or artist browser in the UI.

Spotify, please fix this what are you guys doing?
