Was "create similar playlist" removed?

I've been using the "create similar playlist" function as a way to discover new music and its been such a great tool, much more effective than simply going to a song radio. I've only been able to use this function on my desktop but now can't even seem to do that on there now. Was this function completely removed? If so, that's a huge bummer.

Both my friend and I contacted Spotify support 2 days ago about the missing Create Similar Playlist feature cause of how crucial it is to have we use Spotify. We were both told that it was purposely removed, and my friend was told it was supposed to be replaced by the Smart Shuffle feature.

Not the same outcome. It's a workflow problem you created by changing this. Generating a cloned playlist of similar songs moved it to a new playlist without adding to the existing playlist which is already perfect length and vibe. Creating another is also easier to keep and edit removing what you don't like, discovering and most importantly, again without having to toggle on enhance playlist and mucking up the playlist you are cloning. We don't want to use an existing playlist as a staging area for new music.

I'm also considering canceling my Premium if you do not add these useful functionalities back.

You had so many god given features for discovering new music:

- Create similar playlist

- Enhance playlist

- Playlist radio

- Any radio with more than 50 songs in it

Now we're stuck with Smart shuffle which is absolute**bleep**. Im find myself clicking the minus button all the time because it fails to understand what i want to hear.

Please Spotify, bring these features back...

I've been using Spotify for many years now. The create similar playlist feature was hands down the most effective method that Spotify has provided for discovering new music - their smart shuffle and radio features just churn out the same songs time and time again. I'm really disappointed that they removed this! If Spotify had the feature on mobile as well as desktop I'm sure it would get tons of use

Just add it to the list I guess. Absolutely baffling why they would destroy the discoverability, just makes one listen to less music and thus less likely to renew Premium lol.

I'm adding vote to the issue - please bring back the feature. I can't understand why you would remove a well-functionining and widely-used feature, also for paying customers.

smart shuffle is straight garbage... if I knew how to @ the devs I would. I don't wanna hear my music with some new stuff spritzed in, I want NEW MUSIC.

More and more, everything in Spotify reflects the financialization of the user experience. Users get the features that pay Spotify the most. Spotify only develops features that enable additional revenue streams. Gradually, over time all functionality that doesn't directly increase profits will be removed.

Spotify complains a lot about Apple's app store fees, but Spotify holds its customers in a walled police state. There is no easy way to escape, no standard music application exchange format, no account portability regulations, etc. Most likely there would be far less customer abuse if it was easy for customers to move their account to a different music provider.

I can't think of a single reason as to why this functionality would be disabled. It would be funny if it didn't sting so much. Spotify, get it together.

Yet another user here trying to figure out what happened to the "Create similar playlist" function and ultimately ended up reading this thread. It'd be one thing if this were just a lame decision by Spotify execs – and let's be clear, it definitely is lame at the very least – but now I'm seeing that this has gone unresolved for over 4 months now? That's not lame, that's inept. I switched back to Spotify in 2023, but maybe I'll be switching again in 2024. I'll definitely start looking at other services starting today.

Hi Vasil, it is April 2024 and I don't have the option 'Create similar playlist. I am using a Windows 10 operative system with a Pentium Dual Core x-64bit microprocessor with 4GB RAM and a 256GB SSD Storage unit.  I have updated Windows and Spotify to their latest versions. I haven't been able to use that option for months now although I had used it a lot before it disappeared, so I know fairly well how to use it and where to find it. Do you have an update on this issue? Thank you.

i have the 'create similar playlist' option in the dropdown but when i press it nothing happens. where does it the created playlist live and what is it called?
