Win10 desktop app unable to play songs on any artist/album pages

The Spotify desktop app on my Windows 10 laptop doesn't play songs if I select them on the page of an artist, an album or through the search tool. It only plays songs if they are on a playlist, my own or someone else's. So the same song works on a playlist, but if I go to the original album from that playlist and select the song, it does nothing.

On my Android cell phone and on Spotify web app everything works fine, so it's just the desktop app. It's been like this for some time now, but can't tell for how long exactly. I already tried the clean re-install of Spotify, without success. What on earth is wrong? Help, please? 😮

This sounds like a previous Ongoing Issue that affected many Spotify users. Could you please read this post and confirm if your problem is the same?

Hi, thank you very much for your thorough response! It turned out to be the damn VPN! 🙈😅 So I guess not gonna use VPN from now on...
