My Question or Issue

On the latest version of the Spotify Desktop app, I see that the top of the window has some strange visual issues.

The Windows 7-style window border and buttons occasionally show up.

I've had the top border partially show up, or the minimize button.
It also briefly happens when pressing the black minimize button.

This used to work yesterday (10 November 2023), but I did get an update for the app today (11 November 2023)

Hey folks!

Interesting, it could have something to do with the rounded corners at the top. This doesn't seem to occur on my end though. Are you able to consistently reproduce it? Have you noticed it occurring after a specific action, for example, resizing the window, waking the screen, playing a new song, etc.

A short screen recording which captures the behavior in action would be greatly appreciated. That way we can get a clear view of what's happening.

Keep us posted. Cheers!

Hey Yordan,

I came across your post while searching for a solution and i too can say i have this issue, i find it happens when i switch songs and occasionally when i resize the window, a screenrecording i cannot provide due to my pc not being able to record properly but imagine as soon as the song switches to a different song the top bar changes to the look of windows 7. I am assuming it has to do with windows wanting to put the song info on the top bar since the song info does show up on that bar. Another thing to mention is that the top bar goes back to the normal look when alt tabbing to the spotify application.

Lets hope we can fix this issue for all the people having this issue!

Thanks for the info @BoR3!

I played around with the app and was able to reproduce this by disabling the hardware acceleration in the app's Settings > Compatibility and restarting Spotify. Could you folks confirm that you had hardware acceleration off as well? Does turning it on and restarting the app fix the issue on your end?

Heya Yordan,

So after turning on my pc today and getting some work done i noticed the problem has vanished without any changes to the app, i dont remember the last version number so i cannot say for sure it was an update or not but the problem has vanished for me.

I hope for the others that it also has been fixed and if not try seeing if there might be an update.

Hey Yordan,

Tried fixing it by turning off the hardware acceleration and it did nothing
maybe with the next update if fixes that.

Hi Yordan,

I always have hardware acc. turned off, but I'm still having this bug. It appeared just today tho

whenever hardware acceleration is disabled this incident occurs. But when hardware acceleration is re-enabled, it goes back to normal

Hey folks,

Thanks for your replies.

We've forwarded this to the relevant team here at Spotify, however, we can't confirm when it will be addressed. In the meantime, please make sure to keep your app up-to-date.

Cheers,

Spotify really messed the title up.

Happens on Title Change and Window Updates (ie: Minimize/Reopen & Moving Window)

Just re-setup my PC today after a fresh install, I disable hardware accel in many apps such as Spotify, Discord, my browser etc. Just noticed this bug today also.

Device:

Desktop Windows 11

Version Info:
Spotify for Windows (64 bit)
1.2.24.756.g7a7fc7f0

Issue:

After the latest update the edges and the some of the buttons are started to glitching and it's been like this for a week i guess.

I am also having the same issue when songs change. Wasn't an issue a month ago and I have already tried toggling hardware acceleration. Hope it gets resolved as it was never an issue for me.
