Hey folks!

Could you please take a look as well and confirm if the issue is fixed for you as well with this app version? Much appreciated!

Hey there @Dimdrock,

Thanks for reaching out via the Community and welcome to the forum!

Since we couldn't replicate the behavior in the Windows app and the arrow keys seem to work, it's possible that there's some corrupted cache causing this issue on your end.

If you haven't done this already I recommend a clean reinstall of Spotify with the steps here. It includes the steps to clear the cache and often helps resolve different performance issues.

On another note, on Windows it's possible to download the app both from our website and the MS store (they can behave differently) and if the same issue persists, you can download the app version that you weren't using so far to test if it would work better.

Lastly, let us know how things look like in the search bar in the Web Player.

Appreciate the cooperation and we'll be on the lookout for your response.

Such a stupid software bug. How tf do you have a glitch in something as simple as a textbox? Un-freakin-believable 🙄

Experiencing this exact issue, but on MacOS. Arrow keys are dead when using the search bar on MacBook Pro. I've tried quitting, restarting MBP, restarting Spotify, deleting Spotify and doing clean reinstall, nothing fixes this very obnoxious problem. When can we expect an update to fix it? Using Spotify for macOS (Apple Silicon)
1.2.66.447.g4e37e896

I'm having the same thing on MacOS Sequoia latest version and latest version of the Spotify desktop app. Apple Silicon MBP here. Same as earinfluxion. Please sort this out, it's minor but **bleep** annoying

Hey everyone,

Thanks for your messages and making us aware of this issue.

In order to look into this further with the relevant team, and in case you haven't sent it yet; let us know the following info:

- Your device info (make/model) and OS version

- Exact Spotify version

Also, could any of you check if the Web Player shows the same behavior or not?

Lastly, and if possible; could any of you record a short video where we can take a better look? You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. You can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to see it).

We'll be on the lookout.

Macbook Pro latest MacOS 15.5

Spotify for macOS (Apple Silicon) 1.2.66.447.g4e37e896

Web player is fine (in Safari)

Same problem here too. Noting that this is just the main search field at the top of the app. Searches within playlists seems unaffected.

Web player in Edge / Chrome / Firefox in Windows 10 has full cursor control in the search field.

Likewise for the web player in Safari in OSX 12.7.6 (Monterey).

Does not work in Windows desktop app...
Spotify for Windows (64 bit)
1.2.66.447.g4e37e896

Reinstalling Spotify did not help. Restarting Windows did not help.
Deleting cache, uninstalling Spotify, restarting Windows & then reinstalling Spotify did not help.

Interestingly, IT WAS WORKING FINE in the OSX desktop app a few minutes ago until I stupidly updated to 1.2.66.447.g4e37e896

Hey @brianblessed and @mrterencewong,

Welcome to the thread!

We really appreciate you folks adding your details here and we've forwarded the info on to the relevant team to take a further look. As soon as we have any updates on the matter, we'll let you know here.

In the meantime and if you haven't already done so, it would be very helpful if you could send us the following:

  • Device(s) this is happening on and their OS-versions.
  • The exact Spotify-version that you're using.
  • What troubleshooting steps you've performed.

In the meantime, don't hesitate to let us know if anything else comes up 🙂

I'm experiencing this issue in the Mac desktop app:
Spotify for macOS (Apple Silicon)
1.2.66.447.g4e37e896

MacOS 15.5 (24F74)

Tried your desktop app as well as
Firefox 140.0.2 (aarch64) — web version seems to work in search bar
Chrome Version 137.0.7151.120 (Official Build) (arm64) – appears to work in web version also

Recent update to 1.2.67.560.g46a15f6b in both Windows & OSX seems to have fixed the problem... cautiously optimistic.
