audio gets lowered whenever i change volume

audio gets lowered whenever i change volume

Im on windows 11, and I wasn't sure if it's my iems dying on me or the app messing up my audio.
My Spotify volume whenever i touch the volume slider whether its increasing or decreasing the volume, automatically get significantly quiet. It doesn't affect my windows volume at all, just specifically Spotify.

If i were to swap outputs and back to my iems it gets loud until I touch the volume slider to which it gets quiet again.

(I don't have another pair of headphones to test otherwise)

Hey @TomCatsu,

Thanks for posting on the Community! Kudos for including a video as well - this gives us a better overview of the issue you're experiencing 🙂

To make sure we cover all bases, could you try switching off audio normalization in the app to see if you notice any difference? You can find it in Settings > Audio quality > Normalize Volume.

Shouldn't that do the trick, would you mind letting us know if you're using any external/dedicated sound card for your PC (as they may sometimes interfere with the app's performance)? Also, does this only occur when using headphones, or, as an example, when playing directly from the computer or using a Bluetooth speaker?

Let us know how you get on!

I've also got this problem. I'm on Windows 10 and usually play audio through my mic (Blue Yeti Nano) with my headphones plugged into the mic. I've discovered the issue stops happening if I use a different mic of the same type. It also happens when Spotify is played through my laptop's speakers. I can't test with just headphones and no mic because my headphone port / jack / whatever that hole is called is broken. No other applications are affected. Everything else is exactly as you described. Audio normalisation setting does nothing, and I'm yet to find any solution. Video attached in case it's useful at all.

Hey @serapheseraphim,

Thanks for reaching out and for providing a video of the issue.

Do you get the same behavior in the Spotify web player? We've also had reports of a somewhat similar behavior which didn't happen with a new account, so it's worth creating one for test purposes or logging in to a different one by a friend or a family member.

It's also a good idea to see if the Spotify app volume in the Windows volume mixer changes when this happens (see below).

Keep us posted.

I didn't have the problem using the Web Player, but I did with the desktop app. However, the problem seems to be solved, at least for me

The web app works fine for me (it's what I've been using instead of the app for the past few days). Nothing changes in the volume mixer when the problem occurs, and signing in to a different account doesn't fix it either.

Hi there folks,

Thanks for your replies in this thread.

@runBo, we're glad to know everything is working now.

Now, @serapheseraphim, we'll first need to cover all bases here. Just to check, have you tried reinstalling the Spotify app? If not, we recommend performing one by following these steps. No worries, you won't lose any saved content. Something else that's worth trying is installing Spotify from a different source. If you downloaded the app from our website, try the version from the Microsoft Store instead, and vice versa.

Lastly and just to check, does this only happen when you play Spotify though the mentioned mic?

We'll be here.
