certain podcast shows doesn't play episodes anymore without special conditions

Hello everyone.

 

Plan: Premium

Country: Germany

Device: desktop computer

Operating System: Windows 10

My  Issue:

For a couple of days, I got problems with a specific podcast show BBC Global News Podcast, which I have subscribed to, which have greyed-out play buttons. Other podcasts shows still work.

Neither restarting or re-installation help to fix this issue.

I can play, pause, resume episodes under the following conditions:

1) starting an episode via my Android app with remote mote for my computer, then I'm able to pause and resume the current episode

2) downloading an episode with my Windows app and then go to "my episodes" and start, pause and resume the episode but via the episode list of the podcast show I'm still not able to start, pause and resume episodes

Just to confirm, is this happening with all the episodes from this specific podcast?

 

It would also be helpful to have the link to this podcast in order to check if we can replicate the issue from our end.

Thanks for the posts.

 

We've reported this to the right teams at Spotify.

 

This looks like a content availability issue specifically on desktop. We can't say for sure when this will be fixed. For now, our recommended workaround if using a PC/Mac, would be to use our Web Player or a Mobile device as we can confirm the podcast plays fine there.

 I've encountered this too. The web player will not play any podcasts. I've been told by support this is a limitation or bug of the web player. The solution I've been given is to play podcasts on Mobile app or Desktop app only for now.
