My Question or Issue

Hey, I was wondering if there was a way to disable the song title, author, album artwork... (bascally everything the fullscreen feature shows you before fading out) going away from your screen when not moving your mouse. First pic is what shows up when entering fullscreen mode, second pic is what happens if you don't move your mouse like a maniac for 3 seconds.

Hi there @Crazychemist,

Thank you for posting your question on the Community.

There are some things that we didn't fully understand about your post. When we used the full screen mode, the app showed the track/artist info before fading out, then it kept showing some artwork before moving the mouse again.

With this said, we'd like to make sure if you want to disable the fading out or if it is something else.

Also, please let us know the app version you're running.

Keep us posted.

Hi,

sorry for the misunderstanding. That post was half-redacted and it's fixed now. My bad!

my images summarize what I see perfectly. No artwork, title, timeline or anything. Just a gradient. And yes, I'd like to disable fading out so all that info stays on display forever.

Version is 1.1.66.580.gbd43cbc9-a

I would also like to have option to keep the UI (song info, progress bar, album art) visible in fullscreen mode. I've been using fullscreen mode to be able to see the currently playing song further away. The fading out UI is inconvenient because now I have walk to my desk and move the mouse first, instead of simply taking a look at the screen.

I know the fade out is there to make this Canvas thingy fully visible without UI obstructing it. But there are lots of songs and albums that don't even have the Canvas art set. In that case the UI fades out and all we see is a blank screen. A blank screen instead of the album art and song info.

1. The UI should not fade out if there is no canvas art set for the song.

2. There should be option to select the preferred behavior. Fading UI vs UI always visible.

If you are not willing to add extra options to select the preferred behavior, maybe UI could be left visible when the mouse pointer is on top of the controls at the bottom of screen (play, next/previous song buttons, progress bar etc..). Placing mouse pointer anywhere else would allow the UI to fade out.

I wouldn't like that last option since I like working on one monitor while the other shows what song is playing. The best solution would be to let us choose between no fade out or a customized amount of time.

I agree, I would also prefer to have an option to disable the fade out feature. Maybe a small lock icon somewhere in the bottom of the screen? Clicking the icon would lock the UI into visible state.

Hey folks,

Thanks for the post and feedback.

There is no way to disable the fadeout.

It is supposed to show you a large screen featuring only the album art, without a title, artist etc.

If you think other users might also like it, go ahead and create an idea on the relevant idea board. We always take new ideas and feedback into consideration to improve the app. Here you can read more on how ideas work.

We also suggest checking this help article for useful tips on how to submit an idea. As a heads-up, it's good to know that the higher the number of votes an idea gets, the more likely it is for the idea to be implemented.

@Crazychemist, can you let us know if you see a gray background on every song, or just this one?

Cheers.

Thanks for pointing out the ideas section Alex! Someone has already highlighted this problem there:

@Crazychemist: Go and give your vote for that idea to make sure our voice is heard.

Hey, thanks for that. Will definitely upvote the post @pentele linked. By the way, the "grey" screen is actually an average color from the album cover. Sometimes it's pink, yellow or just the artist image.

Issue still persisting in:

Spotify for Windows
1.1.68.628.geb44bd66

This might be a dead thread but I'd like to add that the problem is fixed on the web app because for some reason the spotify development team cares more about the app no one uses than the desktop app.
