My Question or Issue

When I try to use the Spotify App for Windows 10, I get the message "Spotify can't play this right now. If you have the file on your computer you can import it."

I have already tried all the solutions in this thread: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Desktop-Windows/quot-Spotify-can-t-play-this-right-now-If-you-have-... but so far nothing have worked.

A few months back I contacted support, but there were not able to fix the problem and told me they would let the special team look at it. So far I have gotten no answer. The issue has occurred since I bought my computer in late January. Here are the specs, and I apologize for it being in Danish, but it should be readable anyways:

I you need any other information I will provide it to you to my best ability.

I hope there is a smart soul out there that can help me, because the web player is a bit slow and glitchy. Thank you.

Hey @rasm146k,

Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community.

Sorry to hear that you're having this experience.

We'd recommend you run through this series of troubleshooting steps:

  • Run a clean reinstall of the app following this Guide.
  • Clear any entries which contain Spotify from your host files. Follow the process described here.
  • If that doesn't help, try uninstalling Spotify and reinstalling it in Windows Safe mode
  • Run Spotify in compatibility for Windows 8 as Administrator.

Since other users report that this issue was solved once they changed their Audio output settings it might be a good idea to check if there are any newer drivers available for your soundcard and that you're running the latest Nvidia update as well.

Another thing you can try is to download the app from our official website and not from the MS store or
vice versa a versa.

Hope this helps. Don't hesitate to reach out again if you have questions.
