Hi there @sdfsdfsdfaaa,

Thank you for taking the time to post in the Community. You've done an amazing job with the troubleshooting so far. Let's take a closer look into this together.

To start with, can you let us know if you performed a clean reinstall that’s provided in this article?  This is different from a quick reinstall and could be helpful to get rid of any cached files that might be causing trouble.

If you did and the issue persists, can you restart your router and see if it makes any difference?

On another note, if you're using any VPN, can you disable it?

Let us know how it goes so that we can continue to assist you if you need us to 🙂

Take care!

i am now unable to play any of my liked songs and can't use spotify at all

Hey @sdfsdfsdfaaa,

If you have installed the Spotify app from the Microsoft store, could you try downloading it from our website instead?
The two versions have minor differences that could potentially fix this issue.
Let us know how it goes! 🙂

hi, thanks for your reply, i downloaded spotify directly from your website

Hey @sdfsdfsdfaaa

Thanks for getting back to us.

In this case, would you mind trying to reinstall the app again, but this time downloading it from the Microsoft Store?

If the issue persists afterwards, we'd recommend clearing up your hosts file. Head here to find out how.

Lastly, could you check if the OS of your PC has any pending updates?

We'll be on the lookout.

hi, i cant actually access the microsoft store since i have the free version of windows (license is $100 :[ ) i checked my host file and didnt see any lines that said spotify. i'm updated to the most recent version of windows 11. thanks for your reply

Hey @sdfsdfsdfaaa,

We appreciate you sending us all the steps that you've already tried to solve this.

We'd also recommend to disable any antivirus or ad-blocking software that might be affecting the app's performance.

Lastly, can you try to open Spotify Web player to see if it is working as it is supposed to?

If your issue persists, it might be a good idea to use a different network. In case you don't have another network available, you can use a mobile data hotspot to try it.

Keep us in the loop and don't hesitate to get back to us if you have any other questions.

thank you for your reply, last week the web player also said i am offline, i forgot to mention i had already tried that. i opened it up again and it says something went wrong, try reloading the page. i waited a few days and kept trying in case it was a one off thing. i don't have any ad blockers and i completely uninstalled my anitvirus. my PC only works with ethernet so i cannot connect to wifi or a phone hotspot otherwise. i do think it is an issue with windows 11 as my spotify was working fine before, but i dont really want to revert my update. i am able to use spotify when i control it from my phone, which isn't too bad, but inconvenient

Hey @sdfsdfsdfaaa,

Thanks for your reply and for the info shared.

Just to confirm, is this happening on another computer? It'd be awesome if you could check. You can ask for the computer of a relative or a friend to open your account and check.

On another note, is this happening is you log in on a different account? You can create a free test account to check if the inconvenience persists there.

Lastly, can you run Windows in Safe Mode with Networking on your computer? If the app works with no issues there, try adjusting different network settings and uninstalling any software that might be conflicting with Spotify's connectivity.

We'll be on the lookout!

Hey @sdfsdfsdfaaa,

Apologies for the late reply.

The steps suggested by Jeremy involved changing your DNS settings. Here's how to do this:

  1. Open Control Panel.
  2. Click on Network and Internet.
  3. Click on Network and Sharing Center.
  4. Click the Change adapter settings option in the left pane.
  5. Right-click the active network adapter and select the Properties option.
  6. Select and check the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) option.
  7. Click the Properties button.
  8. Select the "Use the following DNS server addresses" option.
  9. Enter 8.8.8.8 as the primary DNS address in the "Preferred DNS server" setting and 8.8.4.4 as secondary.

If this doesn't help, you can revert the changes by selecting Obtain DNS server address automatically in step 8. In that case we'd highly recommend trying to connect your PC to a different internet connection (preferably by a different provider) as the issue is most probably caused by your network settings.

Let us know how it goes.

thanks for the reply, i tried this and it didn't work. like i said before i can't connect to another internet because my PC doesnt have that, i can only use ethernet. its not a problem with my network (because it works perfectly fine) it's a problem with spotify. i havent used Spotify for two months now. i should probably like.. get a refund or something for this because it's not useable

Hey @sdfsdfsdfaaa,

Thanks for getting back to us!

Can you let us know if the app still shows that you're offline? Is that happening immediately after you start the app or constantly?

It's also worth mentioning whether you're having this issue only with a specific album/track/playlist/artist page.

On another note, a solution can be updating the sound drivers on your PC. Read more about how to do that here and try to see if that will help.

Let us know how things work out.
