Spotify Recently Played Artists not updating?

Spotify Recently Played Artists not updating?

After updating my Spotify Desktop player, my Recently Played Artist list has not updated in a week or so. Spotify on my Android phone seems to be similarly affected as well. As my Recently Played Artists usually updates quite swiftly, this lag is worrying me a little - especially since I've been listening to a number of different artists for quite long periods of time. Can anybody provide a solution to this? Thank you!

Same problem for 2 weeks it says i played toby keith and keith urban when i played allot more that.

Same problem here, no more list updating since I became premium member 2 weeks ago. My first thought was that his is a possible cause for the problem.

I think that's just a very unlucky fluke that it stopped working just as you started paying haha. Hopefully they fix it soon for your sake!

Same problem here. Hope they do something about it soon.

No, I'm a Premium User for 5 months and it just been happen in the last 3 weeks(or even a month) ... Very disappointed with the lack of feedback from spotify

We're getting close to 1000 people having looked at this thread, I feel like that is a large enough number to say that this problem is obviously widespread. ALL of my friends are having it.

Same problem here, can anybody from Spotify staff give any possible solution? Thanks

I have been having this issue as well.. and wondering if it was just me, and if it really is that big of a deal. However, I feel its been at least two weeks now since I have seen my account update with my actual recently played artists and it is starting to drive me nuts! It is not just for others members to see, but I use this feature for myself when I want to remember a new artist I scoped out within the past few days and may have forgotten.  Spotify, help, come on!

That's exactly why it bothers me too, I used my Recently Played Artists to look back on to remember what I listened to the couple days prior.

I've been having the same issue. Last week, I DM'ed the Spotify Cares Twitter account about it and the person on the other end kept mentioning how "odd" and "peculiar" it is that my list hadn't updated in over three weeks. "Have you signed out and signed back in?" "Are you running the latest version?" And then I come here and find it is likely a known issue. I checked yesterday and my list finally updated. These lags lead me to wonder if Spotify is even keeping track of my listens to send royalties to artists. (I know it's a pittance, but it's how the program is supposed to work.)

Thanks, mines been 4 weeks now and no update still, i'll try what you did
and see if that moves it. Cheers!

Do you think signing out and back in refreshed it/was it as soon as you signed back in that they began to refresh, or do you just think it was a fluke that they finally updated? Keep the thread posted please!

It was definitely a fluke. I had signed in and out on multiple devices with current versions for weeks with no change. (Seeing the same list on multiple devices always led me to believe the problem was on their end.) Now, my recently-played artists list is also not reverting back and forth to a previous version as it had been doing over the past month. I don't think this change has anything to do with my contacting Spotify directly, as I used a Twitter handle unrelated to my Spotify account. And I'd say they have failed to acknowledge the issue because it could affect artist compensation. (Ha, it might prove more effective to notify major record labels of the problem.)

Ha, I guess as a consumer of the music I didn't really think about how that affects the artists.

I'm not sure if you're saying what I think you're saying, but for a while would your Recently Played Artists change between two different lists? Not update/refresh, but just switch between two prior sets of artists that had been there before? For about two weeks it would say my top 4 would be one thing, and then if I refreshed Spotify, it would give me a different list, but it just switched between those two. Or sometimes I'd see the top 4 and click to view the rest and just doing that would change it to the other list. To be clear - both lists were several weeks old, so I was just looking between two old lists of my "recently" played artists.

Now it doesn't even to that, I only have the one seemingly permanent list of Recently Played Artists from over a month ago.Smiley Indifferent

Yeah, that's what I meant. It had been switching back and forth but this new list has not. However, I have not noticed any change in the lists of friends I follow. (I did notice some of my friends' lists had updated once over the past month when mine hadn't.) It's as if they're now going to update them once a month, one-at-a-time.

I'm having the same issues as well with my friends' lists not refreshing either, both for me looking at their profiles and them looking at their own profiles.

Although this is likely a seperate issue, I mentioned earlier in the thread that another problem occuring is with the live music feed - if I step away from my computer for several hours and come back, it will say that the last of my friends to listen to music was several hours ago. If I close Spotify and refresh it, the feed refreshes and I'll see severally people currently listening to music and that others had listened to some music when the feed said no one had. I'm always connected to wifi, so this sort of confuses me.

I don't care about that as much as the profiles updating though haha, have to pick one battle at a time...

Well perhaps someone should go notify a prominent record company if we continue to be ignored... big money has a big voice.

Checking my profile on Spotify, the same artists for 3 weeks-one month, I saw who several artists changed their avatars and the old pictures remain the same on my Recently Artists Played.
It's like the program/system had taken a picture of my activity, and that stayed there for all this time.

@brenda_ayane  Same here! My artists avatars have changed on Spotify, but have not updated on my Spotify page.

It has been almost two months since they last updated.

Has this feature been disabled completely? Because not only have my recently played artists not updated in a couple months but the feature to hide this option has disappeared.
