[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

This would be a huge plus for me. I love to listen to many of your newer playlists but don't like having the explicit songs mixed in.

And now Spotify apparently doesn't have an explict label for songs at all. Not only do I not have the option to automatically filter explicit songs, now I DON'T EVEN KNOW which songs ARE explicit so I can skip them myself! Spotify, this SUCKS, and I'm sick of it! If I wasn't serious about switching to a new music streaming service before, I definitely am now!!!!!

Just DO IT! I switched to Apple Music and have not had this problem at all. I can safely listen to music with my kids, at work and in the backyard without the F-BOMB (and worse) dropping unexpectedly. If I want to hear that I will ask to hear that. I also have family plan on Apple Music and that works out very well for my family.

I agree. I have cancelled my Spotify Premium subscription for just this
reason.

I believe the only way to actually get this idea through to Spotify is to
limit/abandon their

I will be cancelling my premium subscription as soon as Apple Music is integrated into SONOS. It is appalling that Spotify fails to acknowledge and respond to these several thousand requests. Spotify also fails to respond on Twitter to 'Explicit' filter functionality.  They are clearly not focussed on customer choice and loyalty.

3+ years! Still nothing? Ridiculous!

I have just joined from another streaming music servce and am shocked that this is not a standard feature with you service. I will give it a try but I think I might go back since they have offered this service since day one and it looks like there is no effort being made to really change.

Why has it been 3 years and this feature has still not been implemented? This feature would be fantastic for many many reasons.

devin_B

completely blowing it, spotify for not implementing this feature.  i'm cancelling my premium subscription and exploring different services.

tellerman5

want this option for sure.
