[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

5 years and nothing happen? This is really sad! We need a filter options to keep our kids safe and let them use Spotify by their own.

Best regards from germany

I would love this. Thanks for the option.

Come on Spotify!! Get with it! You offer a PREMIUM FAMILY account; yet you can't allow parents to restrict EXPLICIT content children? I guess our money will go back to iTunes. 😞

I would definitely like this feature. Google music has it and people want it and need it really- just like you wouldn't want your young kids watching 15 films with explicit language, you don't want them exposed to this language in music! People are going to start leaving in protest soon... sort it out Spotify!

A filter for explicit would be awesome.  Even better would be to have radio / clean edits of my favorite songs so I could still listen to them with kids around.  Filtering out explicit first of all should be SO easy since you already have songs labelled as "explicit".  I don't have high hopes for the clean/radio edits since this issue has been here for 5 years with no action, just a wish.

Kid Safe Spotify option - Let's do this!

WOW this has taken way tooooo long, I have just subscribed to your family service I love the features but this is a mayor issue for us with children. Also for gatherings and family activities. I have been evaluating Google Play Music which has this option and also gives you YouTube Red and integrates very well with Android and Google Home. Anyway, once my free Google Play subcription is up in August I will have to make a decision, not having this feature is a major hit for your service in my book.

This is a great idea should be added to the spotify experience would make it so much more admirable in the sense of protection of adolescent minds as much as sometimes you want a song with the vulgarity... Ever listened to limp bizkit editted its a bit off... Def hope this becomes a feature

I am amazed this isn't done yet.  Had a few people ask about this for numerous use cases.  Please get this one done. 😉

Well it's been 5 years. It has 7587 votes (as of 05/05/17). That is Far (FAR) more votes than any other feature request on Spotify. 2850 Comments saying it's a good idea. (again FAR more than any other idea) - And you still won't do anything about it. It is obvious you have some other reason NOT to implement a very basic feature. Any decent developer could implement this in 10 minutes. This company must have some wicked people running it. That is the only reason you wouldn't implement this idea. Most other music services have it. The only reason I like Spoitfy is the crossfade option. But I am forced to use another service (and live without crossfading) just because you are a wicked anti-family company. So at this point, even if you implement the idea, I will not come back, and I will forever encourage people to leave this service and stay away. Daniel Ek, you should be ashamed of yourself for letting this go on for so long.
