[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

I pay $15 a month for premium (family) and it's very frustrating that I can't listen to music at work without worrying about songs with explicit lyrics popping up in the radio stations.  Might have to switch to another service until this is implemented.

Please make some way for me to remove EXPLICIT songs from what is available for my kids and me listen to on Spotify. Please. Pretty please.

Wanted to listen to some music this friday morning but because there was not an explicit filter on spotify i used google music. Just saying you are losing users without this simple change.

5 years & nothing has been done about this?! Are you kidding me?? There is no logical or business reason NOT to include a filtering option. PLEASE stopped delaying & add this feature!

I love listening to Spotify playlists, but sometimes a random explicit song plays and it's very bad if I'm driving around with my kids in the car.

Please fix this, Spotify.

just moved over to Google Play because of this, problem is now, even if Spotify fix it I won't move back unless the Google Play service is inferior and by all accounts it is not and you get YouTube Red as well

I honestly don't understand why they can't find a way to do this

Please do filter explicit content as soon as possible. You are advertising (and discounting) family packages. One might rightly assume that if you mention the word family you are targetting young people as subscribers. You therefore have a duty of care to protect your subscribers.

Please mark songs with explict language so that my kids can make their own playlists without hearing that language.  This should be a standard feature.  I'm disappointed that I'm paying for this and I cannot make that choice.

Just signed up to google music family account. Not a full filter but does allow me to filter on radio playlist, which is fine for when kids are around. Bye Spotify ☹️
