[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

This needs to be done you promote family accounts but don't have a filter to block explicit songs. That is ridiculous!

After 5yrs, perhaps Spotify will listen when the number of their users starts to decline because their parents are using alternative music sources, and the children will become familiar / loyal with other platforms.

Come on Spotify, get your act together and act responsibly !

Quick update, I got an email from the head of the Executive Team asking when is the best time to phone me with an update so I have arranged it for later this week. We all need to stick to the fact that parental controls are a child protect issue and not just a nice feature and as such they must be implemented if Spotify is to honour its duty of care to the children it allows to hold accounts with their service.

A "Play clean versions of songs" option is a must-have (global, simple option which would play the equivalent "clean" version of songs whenever available or skip if not available).  Even on the "Today's Top Hits" channel 50% of the songs cannot be played in public gatherings or if my kids are around.  I'm a new subscriber to Spotify Family Premium, and if this isn't added, I'll drop my subscription.

Agreed, I'm constantly being interrupted by unprofessional songs at work. I hope you will make it happen Spotify. & LOVE YOU!

Any updates? I really want to be able to disable explicit songs? This should be a relatively easy thing to do - my kids pick playlists only to find them full of X rated songs - not cool!

You can't do this already? That's completely nuts.
