[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Has anything happened with this? 7 months on and still no option to skip explicit content. This is an easy update to do. Why has it not been done yet? Come on Spotify, do the right thing and I'll be more willing to let my kids use Spotify.

please add option to remove/delete/skip songs with explicit lyrics.

I think we should start bombarding them on Twitter. They'll listen more if
we make things public instead of mentioning it on a forum.

Both Pandora and Apple Music have this feature. Whats the hold up?

This should have been added a while ago. I see what songs kids are listening to nowadays and I feel like the explicit blocker should be here already. If I had kids I would never let them listen to explicit songs. I had to create a playlist where no explicit songs were on just to be able to be family friendly

Given up waiting for this feature, have now cancelled premium account and have switched to google play where it doesn't seem to be an issue (at least for my usage) after trialling it for a couple of months.

I had a reply on Twitter from Spotify. Nothing new though: "...no updates on this but we'll let the develpers know..." https://twitter.com/SpotifyCares/status/876190726480171008 .

Yes I had similar. I have also cancelled my premium subscription until this
is sorted out.

I'm an adult, but I still don't want to be verbally abused by my radio station.

If I put one hip-hop song in my playlist, it inevitably brings up other songs that are just plain offensive.

To each his own, but at least a warning of impending explicit language would be common decency.

Since this keeps happening, I will have to use an otherwise worse service until things are resolved.
