[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

The ony one reason why I don't have premium subscription yet

I would also love to see this. Having a family pass I share the account with everyone in my family and not everyone is ready for explicit songs

Pandora has had this for years come on Spotify...I wanna listen to stuff with my kids, their friends, my nieces and nephews. Really making me rethink my subscription....get stuff censored!

So this thread was created in 2012 and there still is no way to turn off explicit songs....Come on Spotify make this happen

TheRealRobN

This is more important when the spotify radio kicks in after an album. But ideally for all songs

I've got the family membership but got to be cautious with the family !

Easy enough to code.

Please offer a way to block Explicit songs for children. That must be simple to realise.

I use spotify for playing at a large cellular store at work. I have tried to create a large enough playlist of non explicit songs but sometimes I want to be able to just select a random playlist and know that I do not have to watch out for explicit content. Please make this a feature soon. I really really like you guys, but I might end up going with pandora because my coworker uses his all the time and it has an explicit filter option.

The issue must be that they don't care or don't see this as a problem that needs fixing.  But these 305 PAGES of responses proove otherwise.

Please make this happen.  Thank you

Seriously Spotify....Thinking its a good idea and not implementing an explicit filter after nearly 2 years is just plain slack. I'm sick of my kids having to just "suck it up" that there is explicit songs so easily available for them to listen to. Lets put the filter in place and get some morals. Put the option in so people can filter it out if they so choose to. Lets not expect that every person wants to listen to it all the time.
