[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Please implement this soon. I love spotify because of the music diversity and the playlists reach alot more artist in complarison to iheartradio or pandora, but there is not a clean version only option. This runs into a problem for me at my work place, and I am sure alot of other peoples workplaces too. There needs to be a safe mode or clean mode, pandora has one but only go to pandora if you want to hear the same songs play the entire day. When you offer this option, I am sure alot more people will be listening to spotify in more situations where it could now be appropriate. When your listen to a playlist at work with your coworkers and you here p***** a** f*** s*** even n****, that is not appropriate is it? Please do this for your listeners. 9000 votes on this thread plus many other threads on the topic should do something to get this rolling for your listeners.

Please turn off all explicit songs or let us skip them!

Spotify,

This feature has been requested by Spotify users since at least 2012 and there is still no action. This is very poor. Those of us with kids are extremely keen to protect their little ears and minds. Can you get on this asap?

Yours,

I would love to play Spotify on my speaker without the fear of explicit music coming through.  I really hope this gets worked out.  Has it worked out?  I may opt to cancel my subscription if I can't disable explicit for our family.

That would be cool to be able to click a button and restart in explicit/edited depending on the environment your currently in.

A half year ago they acknowledged the interest in this feature, but it still isn't implemented.  I think not having this feature is a glaring omission.  If they can figure all the sophisticated algorithms to make everything else work on the site, certainly it wouldn't be too hard to simply block any track that has the Explicit tag.

It´s being so long since this post but any new features to avoid explicit songs... unfortunately it is not possible to listen lot of playlist near family without akward situations.

Last update was over a year ago.....how long does this take?????

This could easily work both ways. Have it in the settings and have it automatically either give explicit or clean versions.
