[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

There was a forum "edit only explicit only" with almost 5years of comments and several thousand requests for a filter and that forum has now vanished. Well done Spotify good cleanup job. Now the main "explicit Button" page has started to wobble a bit - to be fair to Spotify it is probably just incompetence or even an unavoidable hiccup - but I will watch these pages carefully- I am a little apprehensive that the whole lot might just go up in smoke. I mean, with the arrogance and self-serving attitude we have seen so far, who is to stop them?

I am pretty pissed off this morning now I find that spotify are **bleep**ing around with the forum. Not only is the spotify tower made of Ivory but the bastards are trying to make it bulletproof as well

I left 7 months ago and I will not come back until they have an explicit filter I like the service but not at the expense of my children

Spotify will CENSOR anything they like on this forum. They dont mind slinging **bleep** at others -even kids- but they don't like getting it back

Listening to songs with f**k in them is not desirable to me.  I am not a kid.  I just signed up for premium, listened to dodie's sick of loosing playmates for a couple of minutes, and quickly decided to disable explicit songs from being played in existing play lists.  Unable to do this easily I went to the internet for advice.  F**k if I can not do it because of spotify unwillingness to add it as a feature.  Pandora or apple will get my business now.  Explicit language is unnecessary in my non-f**ked up life.

Please implement this feature. I will probably switch to another service that DOES have music filtering if you do not add this

The last status update on this was a year ago.  I am thinking about switching from Pandora, but if that explicit button doesn't get created by the end of the year, I think I'll just take my money elsewhere.

Hello Fox News Manager,

Just imagine listening to holiday music with your family and guest when all of a sudden, F…. You, Mother F…..ing Ho, F… This and F….That….starts to pour out of my speakers. What a moment of embarrassment and awkwardness.  I turned the music off and started to explore my Spotify Settings to filter out the foul language (Explicit Content). After several failed attempts and Google searches, Spotify does not offer any method of filters for people (young and old) that do not want to be exposed to that language in my own household.

There are neally 10,000 comments for the past 5 years on the Spotify Community Blog related to this very topic of people begging for a filtering feature. No “Love” from Spotify. This is sad. I am in hopes that you maybe able to do something about this.

This was a year ago, I'm sure you could have solved this problem by now if you had made it a priority. Not happy customer Spotify.
