[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

That is right = known as SOUNDTRACK BUSINESS outside Scandinavia = this adds to our confusion but it DOES have an explicit filter. GOOGLE IT either Spotify business or Soundtrack business.

There have been several references to a lawsuit but is it possible for the common man or woman to get justice in this environment? My children were lured into a childrens section on spotify premium and exposed to filth - and I mean filth, NO APOLOGY FROM SPOTIFY. There must be someone out there that can help. After all as Charles Lamb said (quoted in "To kill a mockingbird") = Lawyers were children once too - I suppose. And it continues.....

Have a kid friendly button. Isn't there enough money in it for you to do this? Shameful.

A button to just censor curse words would be even better, radio-edit

I notice the last response by Spotify on this was in 2016. C'mon by guys! Love Spotify but hate getting explicit content unexpectedly. Please include this feature asap.

FireControl1847

Seriously agree with @CazFrost. Even PANDORA has an explicit filter now!

@FireControl1847PANDORA has had this feature for a long time. If Pandora ever offers a family or multiple user plan, I'll be there in a second.

Apple Music offers it. Spotify should have had it first. Its crazy to think it still has yet to implement it into the application. Even Google Music offers a way to help block or play the radio friendly verison of a song. I love hearing a song the way its supposed to but when I listen at work the f-bomb and such is not friendly to the enviroment I'm in. I shouldn't have to skip missing out on my Discover playlist or any premade lists because of a lacking feature that should have been emplemented early on.

I'll believe it when I see it. Until then I'll stick with Pandora and Amazon Music.
