[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

I work at a high school so I'm always around minors. This is a necessity and Spotify is almost not worth it to me without it.

Itunes has this feature guys. It's time to put it on spotify. Espicially for work enviroments. Me personally I just don't care for the explicit stuff too. Thank You!

This is a real issue that looks like it is really being ignored by Spotify.  The original post was in 2012 and there are 133+ pages of comments.  Hello, if you want me to continue my trial subscription and turn to Apple or Pandora, then this needs to be fixed!!!

Obiously they don't want this feature... as it would be amazingy simple to implement.

I think it is just a "we will stick explicit materials in your face you prudes" attitude, because they could have a simple global setting for your account that would solve this simply.

The elitists have spoken by their actions, so we have to weigh if we want to use the free service. I'm certainly not going to pay for it at this point.

philgin

Yep. And it should automatically play the clean version for any explicit song in the current playlist that's playing.

I need this feature, but it needs to be expanded to include explicit album artwork too.

I listen to Spotify nearly daily at work.

however, workers, parents, etc, need to be able to ensure that they can block both explicit lyric songs and cover art that might be considered inapropreate for many environments.

spotify, please fix this ASAP.

Please make this feature avalible to the mobile app too.

I don't want to go back to pandora, I do not like there algorithm as much as Spotifys... But i may need to to avoid explicit artwork.

A firm and definite YES PLEASE from me, I love using playlists and would love to be able to filter out all the sweary songs.

Seems impossible that 3 years after it was first suggested, this is still only a suggestion and not a thing-that-has-happened.

PLEASE add this feature, Spotify! We are subscribers and this is basic stuff. I can filter google searches, youtube, streaming TV, and just about everything else. You are way behind the curve on this. My kids should not be exposed to sexually explicit language or the album covers associated with the artists that produce that crap.

Be part of the solution!

Just cancelled my Premium Subscription and made the switch to Apple Music. Its unfortunate that Spotify continues to ignore this request for years now.
