[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Cancelling my sub because you are retarded.

no offense to handicapped people, the word actually has a definition other than mocking the handicapped.

Why is this ''under consideration''!?  Absolutely ridiculous that this hasnt already been implemented!

Poor Spotify, very poor.

3.5 years on (including nearly a year and a half since it was last commented on by Spotify).

Can it really be that hard?  Just put a version out marked as beta if there is concern that not every track has been identified.  If a track is flagged multiple times then mark it as explicit.  Then allow a beta version of "exclude explicit tracks".

Once people are happy that it is working, take it out of beta.  It's really not that hard......

I for one would rather have something partially working than nothing at all......

Yes please add this feature!

I will not pay for/use Spotify until they fix this problem.  Allow me to listen to clean versions of songs.

After a few recent nasty surprises while listening to Spotify I'd have to say this is urgently needed. I love the service, but without an account-wide filter I'm going to drop my premium subscription.

Apart from the kids, I don't want to hear explicit lyrics.

Looking at this thread and many others elsewhere it is obvious that Spotify has no intention of providing this option.

Hi Development Team!

After receiving so much support for this simple function (given you are already tracking explicit music and have added the button) Idon;t understand why this idea is still under consideration.

I love to listen to spotify at home and can only listen to play lists which I have created - rather than charts - so my kids don't learn some new worrds.

At work, aside from it not being professional to hear some of the explicit language, I am sure I could in trouble with some of the female staf (especially) with some of the lyrics from the music coming out of the US.

Please fix.

This would be a great feature. Sad to see it isn't implemented.

I think after this many years an no explanation or effort to implement, the answer for me is when my family is around I have to use pandora.com as the explicit button. With 5 kids, that's a lot of pandora even though I'd rather use Spotify.
