[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Why not automatically sub in the non explicit version when the song is chosen? If iTunes can sell both explicit and "clean" versions - then why can't Spotifiy be smart and just sub in clean versions - especially on family accounts?

Why do we keep getting these morons like @HHLuca coming in here preaching about the artistry and beauty of dropping f-bombs in songs when the thread is for people who simply want an option to not hear those songs? News flash for you pinhead....Spotify doesn't censor the songs. They play whatever version is provided to them by the record company/artist. If you just can't live without all the cursing you should go complain to the very people whose honor you claim to be defending. Apparently they are so concerned about keeping the original intent of the artist that they have no problem recording and providing the cleaned up versions that you hate so much. This thread isn't in any way asking for all explicit songs to be censored. It's asking that Spotify simply provide an option where we can skip the explicit ones that are there. If you want to keep listening to them you will be able to, that is unless the artists thinks more about their wallet than their artistic meaning and decides to provide a version that more people are likely to listen to. Plays = Money, champ.

I would love this feature, except it shouldn't SKIP your explicit tracks. It should play the NON-explicit version. Most of my playlist have songs that are explicit. I'd still love to hear the non-explicit versions when my kids are in the room and I've activated non-explicit mode.

Really should be a way in options to choose explicit or non explicit versions of the songs. It is difficult to use spotify around young children. Your always diving for the skip button when certain songs come on!

I love Spotify!!! however i do feel the need for this fuction, like other users would not need to hit the skip button with my children present. Explicit lyrics are not everyones cup of tea and just not appropriate with family and friends present.

thanks

I am temporarily cancelling my membership until this becomes a function. I use Spotify for work and Church functions, I refuse to pay them while they refuse to implement a common sense feature. Get your act together Spotify.

Really want this.

Ok - have cancelled premium subscription. I'll be back when this option is available.

This option is certainly needed. I mean just allow us to listen to the radio edits?
