[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Why the F$%^ has this SH*& not been added yet. Spotify muppets. Or do they have a workplace full of swearing so they feel it's not worth bothering with?

Spotify have designed their site to attract children, with a Kids section which is easily accessible to all and very broad in scope. Top Marks- just what kides want!!  However what they do not want is the first playlist in the Kids Section (Tweenies hangout) to contain no less than TEN explicit songs. Now tweenies are SUB teenagers and can expect to be protected from pornographic suggestion thrust on them by institutions that reach out to them.  Perhaps those responsible at spotify need to be dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century when weighing what is convienent to them against the rights of children, and more than 1500 parents begging them to do something about it. Or perhaps they just dont know.

This is not a solution. That is the problem.

Seems a bit extreme but maybe an online petition is the only solution. Anyone care to word it?

DOES ANYONE FROM SPOTIFY ACTUALLY MONITOR THIS SITE OR ARE THEY JUST TAKING THE MICKEY

bluechompy
Given the nature of the feature request I think you'll find they're taking the ******* P1$$ not the mickey.

I'm not sure why you guys are censoring your own posts, since we know Spotify does not care about bad language (at least in music that kids might listen to).  It certainly would be amusing if they are the ones censoring the posts...

This is a great idea. Come on, Spotify, give this a go!

I just canceled my Premium service. It really is disappointing that this issue hasn't been heard and addressed by Spotify. They are obviously not family-oriented, which is a shame. I was willing to pay, but no longer. I was blown away at the number of songs that had extremely inappropriate language for my children to hear. And, frankly, I don't want to hear it either!

All,

I've been monitoring this forum for months.  I have heard enough complaints to make me change how I would run my company.  I don't understand (or appreciate) Spotify's indifference to this topic...especially since they are marketing their product to minors who should not be forcibly exposed to profanity.  I don't appreciate how they've taken parental authority away from the parents by not allowing us to monitor/control what our children listen to.

All that being said, I think this digital message board is too easy for them to dismiss. I have posted negative reviews and the App and Play Stores, I have emailed Spotify Office, and were it not for the fact that I have no social media account, I would've used that outlet too.  Again, though, I doubt they care.

This is my next method.  I will write and mail physical letters to their office:

Spotify USA Inc
45 W. 18th Street
7th Floor
New York, NY 10011
USA

If anyone is interested in joining me in this effort, I would appreciate it.  I'm hopig it'll force them to acknowledge this request since there's no Spam folder for physical mail.

This is going to be my last attempt to have Spotify help me out.  I've already started tansitioning to Pandora at work and home and have been building up playlists on Google Music to give that a try to.  I honestly believe this issue will eventually be what sounds Spotify's digital death knell.  No one, in this century, can afford to so blatantly disregard the most highly requested demand of their customers and expect to survive as a corporate entity for very long.

If the letter(s) I send don't make a difference, I will leave Spotify for good.  The reason will be: Spotify does not care for its customers or the concern of their customers.  Spotify advertises a family plan for money, and because their competitors offer it, but they do not supply parents with the needed tools to make the family plan family-friendly.  Spotify is just a retirement plan built up by Martin Lorentzon and Daniel Ek to support their lifestyles, not provide the masses with a sustainable and versatile means of enjoying music.  Spotify does not care.

I'm asking for help on this one.  Let's give Spotify one last shot.  I'm giving them a personal deadline of April 15th.   I figure, if that's the day by which we all need to settle ourr finances, it should also be the day we settle accounts with Spotify.  If you're in agreement, please give this post kudos, reply to it to show your support, and let's agree to ditch Spotify by April 15th if they continue to show they don't care about our simple request.
