[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Signed it as well. Let's get this done!

Two non-parents signed here, for your children, and all the children who should be allowed their innocence for the precious little time it lasts.

Great idea.  I've signed it and shared it on Facebook.

The note which I included with my signature is copied below:

"I have three under-aged children who love to discover new music. They want this feature as much as I do. Explicit songs are already labeled in Spotify's system, so hiding them from searches and/or omitting them from playlists is a very simple matter.

"It is worth noting that the request thread on Spotify's customer suggestions page was posted over four years ago, is the 3rd most supported request of all time with over 4500 supporters, and has over 1600 comments. Furthermore, Spotify rejected a third-party plugin from their developer community as "the use case for this app is very narrow" (despite this groundswell of support). We, as the Spotify community, have tried to be patient. I believe Spotify is taking an intentional stand for obscenity and ignoring this needed request in order to make a statement. Organizations who stand deliberately against common sense controls to help parents protect their own children from obscenity need to know that they will be held to account for their actions (or lack thereof)."

I cannot believe this is not a feature already. I just caught my little one listening to Eminem My Name Is, since he has heard the "PG" version and loves it. He searched Spotify and got the explicit version. I love the song but not good for his little ears.

I too will be quitting my Spotify pro account if an explicit language toggle switch isn't implemented in the next 60 days. The user needs to be completely in charge of what they listen to without having to build every playlist from scratch.

I would love a filter option for explicit content. Hearing the F-word every other song is harshing my mellow.

Hey guys, I don't know for sure how much this will help, but here's a petition on Change.org that you can sign and share with friends. Hopefully this can make a difference. Thanks http://bit.ly/SpotifyExplicit

This would be perfect for when I'm at work!

We love spotify, but an explici lyrics filter would allow us the freedom let our kids more freely explore more music
