[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Would be nice if we could also report/flag explicit songs. I have seen a couple with profane lyrics that do not even have the explicit tag.

Wow that's a really good point. How can you promote a family plan when there's no explicit filter?! It renders the explicit tags pointless. Also I second the ability to flag a song that hasn't been labeled correctly; that would be nice too.

Wonders never cease - I just opened Spotify and started listening after a couple of days break. For some reason I checked the lyrics on an explicit song - the wonder? There are no more written lyrics on any song. Not explicit. Not non-explicit. Do not know if it is temporary or ??? Instead there are bubble designs and a quotes such as "you caught us we're still working on this one.  Seems rather strange.

Apple music has this feature. I just moved from Apple music but on the first spotify playlist I listened to there were explicit lyrics with no warning. Never had this with Apple.

Please add the option to select between clean and explicit music. You are forcing me to no longer be a customer.
Concerneduser26
Please add the option of listening to explicit content!

Agreed, having kids, everytime an explicit song comes on, I have to fast forward.  It would be great to be able to have a filter.

Everyone agrees that it would be nice to have this option. The main point on
this conversation is to encourage you to not pay for any subscription or
purchase any advertised product until this feature is resolved.

Wow this thread has been going for 4 years and Spotify still doesn't have a way to block explicit lyrics!  Even Apple Radio has this option.  I agree that offering a Family Plan for a service that isn't all that family friendly (unless you want to listen to Kid's Bop) isn't the most well thought out service.  If you are able to mark the songs as explicit then you should be able to block them from being able to be played.
