[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Thanks Meredith..

I moved to Apple Music a couple of months ago and am still getting used to it.  I miss Spotify but will not be back until my kids are grown up or you add the ability to filter explicit lyrics.

I moved several months ago to Google.  I miss Spotify but until this is fixed I can't come back.  I still believe it won't ever be fixed for some reason.

Thank you Meredith. I was so excited when I got the email to say that the status had changed... but only back to 'vote for it' which is admittedly an advance on the clearly optimistic 'solved'.

Meredith, one question for you - this idea has been around for 4 years and has achieved 6,600 votes. What exactly is holding you back from this development at present? Is it insufficient votes? Not enough evidence of support (apart from 230 pages of supportive comments? What more can we, the community, do to convince you to develop this idea?

I'm not really interested in filtering the explicit content, but I'm very much so interested in filtering the censored content out of my Spotify experience. Do you plan to achive this as well with this initiative?

also why don't you merge the duplicate idea with 2k+ upvotes to this ticket?

And the most important, why this is marked es solved?

Completely fair point you make, not against that at all. I'm personally
fine with swearing in songs expecially if I listen to hat type of music.
The point here recently though is spotify have offered the "family"
subscription. And for all of us that pay for that, this option should be
included full stop. It's almost like sporty think having a family are
people with kids all over the age of 18. There I am listening to spotify,
could be a pop song which you hear on radio all the time and then up pops a
swear word. End up rushing to kitchen to skip the track so I'm not
explaining to my 5 & 8 year old what the swearing was. Now with Google
play music, don't have to worry at all, just turn it on and everything is
swear words free (so far) 😉

This is unacceptable.  I can't listen to new playlists at home with the chance of f-bombs being randomly dropped.  It should be SO easy to configure in preferences.   Again, simply unacceptable.  Hello Pandora.

Poor Meredith! Who would want her job??

New spotify user here and I love the service but with 3 young kids I'm probably going to have to cancel my subscription if this isn't resolved.  Can anyone recommend a decent alternative (not an apple user and I don't think Pandora is really an alternative).

Kronenbourg

I would love to sign up for the family plan, but without the ability to restrict my childrens accounts so that they wont play the explicit songs, I wont be doing so.
