[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

It feels like there must be a business reason that they're not doing this.

Dear Spotify -- please help us to understand why this isn't something that's on your scheduled list of issues to implement. Thank you.

Sounds like this is a feature that has been requested for a long time now. Considering moving over from Google Play Music and having a 10 and 12 year old in the house that we want to use with the Spotify Premium Family account, this is a must have. GPM has it, but there are other issues which are causing me to look elsewhere...

I am listening to Google Pay right now. I've never been happier since unistalling Spotify.

I just voted today - We cancelled Spotify Family Plan and Moved to Apple Family Plan.  Took all of 30 seconds to turn on the Explicit filter.  I went to Apple Music to run a test on an album that I knew had one explicit rated song on it, and the ability to play it was disabled.  Perfect. That's all I wanted from Spotify.  Your strategy/marketing team is fighting this request - good luck.

Just keep tweeting #childrenmatter #SpotifyFixFamilySetting  we might get something

How many votes do you need?  Implement this already.

coryseaman

This is the top requested idea and has been gathering votes and dust for over 4 years.  Your lost revenue from subscribers who have left over the lack of this feature could have easily paid for the salary of the developer to implement it.  I know there are a lot of technical implications with all of your discovery features, etc., but please make this happen in 2017.

Doesn't matter to me anymore. I switched over to Apple Music where you can restrict explicit content. Been happier since. I encourage all to leave Spotify. That's the only way they will get the idea. We have a vote in this--with our dollars. That's the only way companies  understand. We have more power than they would like for us to think.

Oh my goodness. This is exactly what I've been telling people. I've kept this thread open just to let people know that yes, they can uninstall Spotify. Yes, they have choices.  Thanks for getting it. By they I use Google Play and it is great. Apply Music rocks too.

I love listening to music with my son, and it's very unfortunate that I can't play certain songs for him that he hears on the radio. How had this not already been implemented????? I will be checking out apple music.
