[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Yes, this feature would be awesome.  Pandora has it and it works great for listening to music at work.

Yes please this would be great. Napster don't do anything either at present. This would the deciding factor in my music provider

If you will not change, then please let me know. Then, I will cancel my young child's account. What's the threshold for the number of comments necessary for you to take action?

I really need this feature. I am giving this another month and if no news or progess is made I will have to cancel. Don't get me wrong I really enjoy spotify but there are if i am going to be spending $10 I expect to a little customization like an explicit filter and to be able to delete radio stations you accidently created.......

+1 on this. Though looking at the current radio top list, Jay-Z is on #9 and is not even tagged explicit.

That said, there are songs that are tagged. It should not be that difficult to review the next tracks song data and see if it is tagged explicit, and if so, skip it.

Could even have a community report button that if 25+ people report a song, it automatically flags it. Or at least puts it in a review queue.

Just my 2 cents.

There's some 9 yr olds logging in to Spotify, but some of the "explicit" songs don't show that THEY are explicit. Spotify should examine each song very closely. I know there's some edited versions of the same track: But some of those yucky tracks don't have anything titled Explicit.

Please. It may seem weird, but I enjoy Rock, Heavy Metal, and Alternative music, but cussing is not needed to make most of these songs great.

There needs to be a section: Explicit Spotify and Spotify4Kids. It will be easier to navigate age-appropiate and dirty songs with these sections.

Please make this an option. The only way I can get the explicit version of the songs I want to listen to is by using spotify in my wb browser. I hate starting an album and then having the the censored version. It's **bleep**ing bull**bleep**.

Pandora allows users to block explicit content. Therefore, Spotify should not have a problem enabling the feature.
