[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

The original request came in 5 years ago according to this post. Can we get info about why it takes over 5 years to get an option to filter out songs with explicit lyrics? My 9 year old loves music and I can't give her access to Spotify because of the explicit lyrics. Would love to be able to use Spotify with my entire family.

Holy smokes!  It sounds like this is the least of Spotify's concerns at the moment:  http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr-esq/spotify-hit-two-lawsuits-claiming-staggering-copyright-infr...

Please add this! It would be useful for so many occasions including playing songs for school events. It would just make everything easier.

Come on Spotify!! Listen to all these comments! It's not that hard. It makes a good service better and it is incredibly sad it's taken this long.

This has been brought up since 2012 and still no resolution?? Give people what they want. Especially since I'm paying you 15 bucks a month. I dont want to listen to trash. Considering other platforms with this option if this isn't available soon. Wish I would have thought to check on this before choosing Spotify...

I can't trust the daily mix while my impressionable young kids are listening - And they're getting bored of the same songs on my non-explixit months-old playlists.

That definitely doesn't stop Pandora or Apple music if it happens to them.
Also it's been asked for since 2012 and the lawsuit hasn't happened that
long at all

Totally agree! If this feature were to be created it would be much easier than say having to make new playlists and going through all the songs doubles checking if they are explicit or not! Could be very very helpful.

Since artists won't clean it up and Spotify won't (see the us top 50? Over 30 explicit songs) in 5, yes 5(!!!!!) years I'm done giving my money to a service I can't even listen to in my car or at work because my 7 year old son or boss is there. Seriously every other service you can filter. What is the hold up? I guess I'll be back if they ever do this since I really like Spotify but at this point I'm wasting my money

C'mon Spotify....this idea has been hanging out for ages.  We have kids, and we all want to enjoy good music and relax...it's not good enough that we can't filter out explicit music.  What are you doing about it? When will we get it?
