[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

If this feature is not added, I have no other option than to cancel my membership. It would be irresponsible of me. I'm a mom with small kids and I have a responsibility to protect my kids from the vulgarity of the world. I assumed this option was a given and I'm truly blown away that it's not integrated in the system.

This was a year ago. Any update? Did I miss it? Seems pretty simple....

Please please please have clean versions. You're going to get a lot more customers from the Mormon population when you do! Not to mention from all other religious groups out there. That's a lot of revenue you're leaving on the table.

I personally would like to use Spotify in my work environment without explicit lyrics catching me off guard with my customers in a professional environment:(

We will likely cancel our family subscription if we can't somehow avoid explicit material. This really seems like a no brainer for a large company like spotify. I'm not saying remove explicit - just make it possible for me to skip it with a toggle, button, filter, etc. I think you'll only gain more credibility and revenue if you do it.

Good for you... more folks should do this to show Spotify that not everyone
likes to listen to trash. I believe they are afraid of repercussion from
the gangsta rap artist who somehow feel that their cursing is music.....

I think subscribers deserve an answer on why there is such a delay on this issue?  And why this is not a basic feature?  What was the reasoning to not have this basic feature when other music programs offer?  Listening to Spotify becomes risky in the workplace.  I'm an adult and don't want to be subjected to such language -- Until artists realize not all adults/listeners want trashy lyrics, I want to be able to control the music i listen to.

I'm almost tempted to forward the notification emails from this thread to support@spotify.com automatically.  I bet we'd get an update on here pretty quickly. lol

That is what I’’m going to do. Great Idea! Maybe uf we all forward every of
these messages to support@spotify.com, maybe then they start feeling the
pain!

Great idea. Anything on Twitter seems to get a reaction.
