[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

I think this function is well overdue.

All of your explicit songs already have an EXPLICIT tag on them. It would not be difficult to add an additional setting to filter out all the EXPLICIT songs. What's the reason this has not been implemented already? You literally have tens of thousands of people requesting this feature with no progress. What gives Spotify? Love the service but am getting tired of Spotify curated playlists swearing me out at home, work and in the car.

Last update on 2016. Status update? Currently on a promotion deal and will not renew without a filter.

Does anyone else feel like all our 1000's of comments and request for an explicit button is ignored? Is there anyone at Spotify even seeing them? I don't feel like they're being seen by anyone who can make adifference! If our comments were seen by Spotify how is it still not a thing? Spotify obviously don't care about what the customer wants if they do read our 1000's of comments of those wanting one.

Spotify are you really ignoring what your customers want? Do you really not care?

I very rarely swear but.. Let's see if this **bleep**ing message gets filtered out of your mother **bleep**ing website reviews. If you believe it needs to be **bleep**ing filtered from here why are you making my children listed to **bleep**ing swear words without a **bleep**ing filter!!!! Not impressed

Spotify, it's time to add this feature and time to give Christian music more attention and credit on your platform.

Spotify really isn't family friendly without this function, it's so difficult to make sure you don't accidentally have explicit songs at the moment.

They are clearly making some effort to start tagging tracks that have explicit content, but the filtering option is overdue now.

Even if they were to launch it with a heavy caveat that some tracks may have explicit content, it would be a good start.

Failing that I’m sure “radio edit playlists” would be very welcomed for new content.

Happy customers, more customers, more revenue for Spotify. Everyone happy - Problem solved!

Not having the ability to control explicit content is probably my biggest complaint about Spotify.  I have no desire to hear the F-bomb or N-bomb dropped ... especially when I'm listening to Spotify with younger children around.

Come-on Spotify ... It's been 5 years since this request was opened and it's about time you fixed this.

Don't You Care About Children!

Spotify don’t care about anything apart from money..

They point you here when you mention explicit lyrics but when was the last
tine they actually gave a useful answer on this. It’s always ‘we are
aware’ or ‘ it’s been passed to the right people’.
