[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Come on Spotify do the right thing. Your base has asked for an improvement to your software and for over 6 years all they have heard from you is Crickets. If management is not willing to give approval to add this feature then it’s very possible Spotify's membership will continue to fall. I, as a new member, had no Idea I wouldn’t have the ability to restrict explicit content for myself and my children. Like all of the users before me I am asking that you include the ability for us, the users YOUR customers, to filter out "Explicit" content if we choose. If you continue to ignore your Customers then I to will move on to another music streaming service and unlike the other users I won’t return "after" or once you are forced to act. Apple and Pandora do offer this feature and there is rumor Amazon is planning to add it.

Rather than block all the explicit songs, provide the radio edits too and then offer clean or explicit versions by using the button, as my kids still want to listen to the songs

I think this is a great idea. However, instead of skipping explicit tracks, it would be nice for the edited version to be played in its place.

Dear All. As Spotify is now an advertising platform, it should offer client las (advertisers) the option of filtering younger listeners as all alcohol/soft drinks/sweet manufacturers have made commitments not to target such groups. Therefore Spotify may as well get on with it and allow its users to also apply filters. In addition to the specific points made it the last few posts about editing lyrics, i joined this conversation because I discovered on my Spotify front page a podcast called ‘Guys we have **bleep**ed’ and ALL of the content explicit. So given the variety of content it’s not just the odd lyric it’s the entire track/odcast.

Spotify - please forward to your CMO I’d be happy to talk him through it as a marketing/public relations expert.

This feature should have been created when the App was created, it's a NO Brainer, NOT everyone in the world that listens to music want to hear Explicit language...

Is there any way to email Spotify support? I looked all over their website and couldn’t find an email .

You can only email support@spotify.com,
But you will only get a generic computer made reply.

This is the only issue that keeps me from switch from either Pandora or Apple music. It amazes me this hasn't happened. I can't even listen to music with my children around using Spotify because of this and there are many other scenarios, such as my office at work. Really should not be that hard to fix...

How is it possible you guys don't have this option?

Every other song I have to skip because of the disgusting vulger langage in what would be and otherwise good song. Spotify is unusable because of this. I am canceling my subscription.

This would be great.  My daughter is 5 and listens to Spotify but I don't need her getting blasted with the naughty words... come on guys this is easy to fix, the songs are already tagged
