[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

I have added to twitter and facebook ... I am surprised that this feature
is not on Spotify and it's so easy to do since they know which songs are
explicit and those that are not. Is it something to do with the £££ I
wonder! Let's hope more people vote for this ... surely it's the right and
responsible thing for Spotify to do.

How many years does it take to make this happen, holy cow...

Be sure to tell your friends on facebook.

We need explicit control options NOW. Over 11000 votes and Spotify still don't listen. It's now 2018 and still no results. Songs are already identified as E so now all you need is a filter. You're behind the times Spotify.

If you feel strongly about this let them know on social media. Tweet @SpotifyCares and @__spo__ lay it all out and make it more public.

The social media accounts only direct you back here, tell you to post on
this forum, then ignore you and say it has been passed to the right team

It's just about public exposure

I have concluded, due to Spotify's inaction, that they are against this idea. I have just had a difficult evening explaining away some of the themes and language found in some Rap to a seven year old. If it were a script to a TV show it would not be considered suitable for children, obviously Spotify views lyrics differently.

I would like the explicit filter but also to be able to filter by genre and artist. I don't think that is going to happen so I feel forced to cancel our Spotify sub. I guess it's apple music now then.

It seems, since Spotify is now a public trading company, that certainly the media could share our frustration on trying to get them to create an explicit filter option.

I cannot believe Spotify is not listening to their users. 6 years and counting ther customers have been asking for this feature. Yet for some reason spotify continues to ignore their user base. The ability to choose what to listen to is the way the world is now and if spotify doesn't get on board they are going to find themselves left behind.  As it stand spotify is the only streaming service that doesn't allow users to filter explicit language. I don't care if I hear a clean version of the song, I just don't want to ever hear an explicit version of any song. It is the same concept as people who don't want to watch certain rating of movies on video streaming sites, just give us the option to disable explict music.
