[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

I agree. How hard is it to allow this as a "feature" to be enabled or disabled? This is personally why I won't subsribe as a Premium member. The service is unusable in public places.

Please do it!!

Wow Spotify

Talk about corporate double talk

You have been saying "We're looking at it" for 2 years! - LIARS!!

Just say  - "NO"

Or since you obviuosly don't care about explicit language, just say "f*%k NO"

Why do you have to keep stringing this topic along? Hey, if you don't want to do it. Or can't do it. Just say so

I will never pay for premium until you get this feature

My daughter has asked to join Spotify, so I starting checking out whether it has an explicit filter.  I see this thread, and I have to say I'm not very impressed.  Given how the service works, it appears that there's no way to avoid explicit lyrics or topics in the most common modes.

Parents have been asking for this to be addressed for over two years, and it's still "under consideration"?  I think we have our answer here.

Spotify, you are turning away potential paying customers.  Usually not a very good model for business success.

This should be a basic feature. Does anyone who works at Spotify have children? And please spare me the lecture on open-minded parenting. Just not interested in explaining to my kids why I gotta skip over every third song.

Beats Music has this feature....Its called "other Version"

hk_wombat

it is the only reason I cant use spotify when my kids are around....  it's been 2 years! get on it!

Yes, PLEASE add this feature!

commercial radio stations aren't allowed to play explicit versions of songs so there should definitely be an option to choose the Radio Edit. I don't want to disregard every song that has a swear word in it but there should definitely be the option to choose the explicit or non explicit version.

please add this ASAP!

Totally agree this would be a good idea. My son loves listening to Eddie Murphy singing Livin La Vida Loca, but I really don't want my four year old to listen to his hilarous but age-innappropriate comedy albums.
