[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Seriously, I cannot believe this is not a thing already. It should have been relased when the app was relased. iTunes Radio has one. Why can't Spotify?

This issue was raised in 2012. It should have been fixed by now. This needs to be a little higher priority than you're making it.

I like the Spotify interface and player much better than Google Play Music, but, I really do not enjoy listening to songs with explicit lyrics, so, I'm done with Spotify until they will incorporate explicit filterling like Google Play Music and Pandora.

Was seriously considering using Spotify to help with music at an upcoming kids halloween party.  I like the idea of having a large group of songs to be able to play - but cannot and will not risk playing a song with explicit lyrics for the kids.  I assumed Spotify would let you do this very easily.  Unfortunately, this was one of the only reasons why I thought it was worth continuing to pay for my subscription, as parties like the upcoming one.  At this point, I think I can cancel my subscription.  Again, SO many other providers operating in a similar space offer this feature, I cannot fathom why Spotify is unable to accomodate this request that now has 56 pages of comments.  Seems the company does not have my values in mind nor do they care about their subscribers needs.  Probably should cancel subscription due to this fact alone.

Yes, I would love this feature.  I have to use Pandora because they have this feature when I'm at work. I can't have music playing in the office that might have the occasional "F Bomb".

Also, when I'm at home my neice will sometimes being running around and I have to create a seperate "family friendly" playlist.

This seems a) simple to do and b) a no brainer. Why's it been hanging around for so long?

Hippodumpling

Please add a filter for explicit lyrics. Please don't wait until there are a million requests. Thanks.

Its been two years spotify. Google's music service is looking more and more appealing everytime I hear an edited song.  Get on this! Do you even give a S***?

New premium member.

Great service but the playlists are pretty much useless without the ability to apply a radio/edit filter.

This seems like a relatively easy filter to provide. If it's a planned release let us know.

Please implement this. It should be as simple as a basic coding implementation. I don't utilize some of the great generated playlists because of the addtion of the explicit songs. Unacceptable for kids ears!
