[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

At the very least could you guys leave Explicit songs out of your "Work" playlists?

Please spotify hurry up and implement this - surely it is not difficult to add a function skipping explicit tracks. Or at least allow the developped ap as a stop-gap. It would be fantastic to choose this when our kids are around - especially as we are paying for a premium account. We will look at switching to another streaming service if it is not an option soon.......

Please! Already! I hate Pandora but it's all I can use with the kids in the car or living room.

Its quite aggravating to have an explicit song come up with cd cover of a nude female with my kids around.  Adding parental controls/explicit song removal is a must before I purchase Spotify plans for my kids.  What will it require to make this happen?

Why is this still "Under Consideration?" It seem so simple and so helpful to any of us who have kids, or want to play music at all occations. What is the holdup?

roythetrampdude

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ADD THIS!!!!!!!! It would be sooo useful!

This is something that has been standard on Pandora for years and to me is one of the things that greatly hurts spotifys ability to reach the masses.  Many people dont want to hear the vulgarity.  If Pandora can do it, why cant you, espcially if Im paying more for yours?!

This would be great! I can't let my daughter listen to Spotify created playlists becasue every 5th song has explicit lyrics. We would love to have the option to have it filtered so we can have that option or not.

I don't understand why it's been 3yrs and this essential and basic request hasn't been fulfilled yet!!b I guess spotify would rather we all just switch to Pandora. People we need to just stop paying for spotify - that's the only way corporations promptly address issues that affect their profit.

I not going to throw away Spotify for a less useful service, like Pandora, but I will be open to switching to another service if I find one. I would rather that Spotify make this simple change, since the overall service is great.
