[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

I'm on the same wavelenth that perhaps we need to take this to social media to bring it to light and hopefully a news organization will cover this disturbing trend. Going to Twitter now #spotifynsfw

I went and did some research. Here's my latest tweet to them:

.@SpotifyCares, a cursory search of the forums reveals, 3 YEARS, 54+ distinct threads, 2,800+ kudos asking for explicit filter! #spotifynsfw

Ridiculous that this is still an issue. I love Spotify and I'm not going to cancel, but I hate that I can't use it as an "auto DJ" for my family gatherings, even on the "Pop" radio playlist. I know that this is probably not as easy as some of you assume it is, but even a crappy implementation would be better than nothing.

I am new to Spotify.  I love the ease and cleanliness of genre selections on your desktop software.

Please give an option to skip songs with explicit lyrics or to hear a non-explicit version.

I have grandkids around and I to not want to listen to my Spotify stations around them.

You know what?  Regardless of my grandkids, I do not want to listen to these lyrics my 64 year old self.

Sorry, but I have to head back to Pandora since they have this option.  I will check in once in a while to see how things are going here.

This must be a huge change since giving us a nice choice is still "under consideration".  Just wow.

Hello! is there any update to this yet? I'm a dance teacher.. it's really really annoying when i teach children and the songs with "pus*y" and "F***" starts playing!

You're going to lose users if you don't implement this feature. I can't believe it wasn't originally considered!

This post is nearly a year old and lots of people have been asking for this functionility for several years.  It can't be that hard, everyone else has managed to do it.  Come on Spotify, it's time to get this done.

I was over on another thread. The #spotifynsfw idea is great. Go tweet it now!

I don't even understand why Spotify didn't have this option from the start. But it 1000s% needs to be added. Added like immediately!

YES PLEASE! Would be helpful for playing music in the office and having to run to change the song when they start cursing
