[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

@user-removed, the thing about the forum versus spotify is that this is not an official spotify forum. Spotify itself isn't regulating per se what is going on here. We have representatives from spotify here, but not all people here are spotify (just look at signatures). That said, I agree about access to music. Family plans should have specific features about specific users access to music.

Nothing says "family" like Explicit content. *SMH*

So, a couple of things @DannyFL -

First - I'm not retarded. I'm aware of how forums work and that not everyone here works for Spotify.

Second - Yes, this IS an official Spotify forum and YES they ARE regulating what is going on here. Where did you even come up with that?

Clearly Spotify doesn't care what we want. Every tweet is responded to with "we're considering it, show your support by giving it kudos" This idea is currently 6th overall, behind one marked "not now". I urge all of you to make as much noise on social media about this as you can with #spotifynsfw. Also, cancel your premium account and tell them you did so over this issue. Finally, tell everyone you know to do the same.

It is clear Spotify doesn't care about us...it's time to hit them where it hurts, their profits.

Why is this STILL "Under Consideration"?? It's obvious that a LOT of people want this feature, and it really should be a basic thing to have on a music site like this. It's been YEARS since this was first posted. What's going on???

Spotify is a business and must maintain itself for the masses.  A lot of countries do not sensor their music at all.  I would still like the option for sure.  A song my daughter was listeing to just dropped the word "F U C K ing" beacuse it was a "remix" version of the original song.  I just told her that Spotify promotes children cussing.  She asked why I would want to listen to Spotify then.  Smart kid and I have 3 Premium accounts I will cancel until the turn off Explicit Lyrics is functional.

Yeah they won't have explicit filters on their site, yet they have no problem with filtering the curse words in this forum. Each word is replaced with **bleep**. The user doesn't type this. That is replaced by Spotify. *explicit words ahead* For example D word: darn; S word: **bleep**; F word: **bleep**. These all said the original word but will have been replaced with **bleep** and not by me.

And d word was changed to darn

Also requesting this feature.

FYI: I just canceled 2 additional family sharing accounts because this feature isn't available.
