[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

We're obviously never getting this feature. I'm already planning to cancel as soon as Apple Music is available. It may or may not have filtering but it does allow 6 users for $14.99/mo. Given that they are essentially the same service I'll go with the cheaper option. If spotify enabled filtering in the next 14 days I'd stay but they've ignored it for 3 years so I put the odds at about 0.

This will be the typical example of a company ignoring customers and then after a mass exodus they'll spam the living sh*t out of them begging them to reconsider. Spotify, all you had to do is enable one simple feature. Instead of dealing with a heavily requested item that is now 3 years old you spent time developing Spotify Running. Seriously?

OK, I guess I have been a small part of the problem.  I complained about not having this feature when I first signed up for my 3 months for a dollar and threatened to leave before paying more if they did not add this by then.  Well like many of you I am paying for my two "line" family plan.  It was just tough not too as there really wasn't much to compete with their service.

However, at this point with the pending release of Apple Music (and with Google Play Music being an option) the only way Spotify could keep more than another month would be to offer the Explicit Filter and True Family pricing (similar to Apple's $15/month for at least 4 family members) before July 13, 2015...I have to pay again on July 14th and unless I hate Apple Music by then or have these features from Spotify my Account will no longer be a paid subscription.

I'm sure they don't care as I am just one $15/month account but maybe if all the families start moving their money elsewhere it will add up to enough.  (Will still be too late for my account though.)

Been tracking this for awhile.  Looks like on June 30 I'll be giving apple music a try - getting tired of having to manually review all fun looking playlists (eg beach vacation) to be shared with family, or just to allow my music-loving children to listen.  Hoping apple does a good job with this issue - the $15 family plan looks perfect too.

It's really too bad, and a shame because other than this issue I really like spotify.  But it's critical enough that I'll be cancelling at the end of the month to try out other options.

I'm also thinking of quitting all my Spotify subs in favor to Apple Music. I can't believe an important features such as this one hasn't been implemented since day one. I find myself having constantly having to skip songs for my kids and myself.

We like using the CHART lists... however, there's always a ton of songs in there I wish we could EASILY filter out without having to constantly create custom playlists.

Is there any update on this feature? I love Spotify uncensored in the car and at the gym...but Im having a hard time listening to it at work in the office. I would love to be able to turn a censoship function on in the AM and listen stress free all day in front of patients and coworkers!

Thanks!

I really would love it if spotify would create something like this because I coach gymnastics to kids ages 3-13 and our radio doesn't work very well so I would love to be able to play spotify. Right now I can't because I never know if a swear word will come on and I definitely don't want to chance it. It would even be helpful if instead of just putting explicit on the really bad songs, you could put clean on the ones without any swearing. That way I could at least make playlists without having to thoroughly listening to each song.

Really??? "under consideration"??? Get a move on it. This is pathetic. I will be looking for a new service soon if you don't add this.

Spotify today released Spotify Rewind, which lets you find music you might like from decades past. Just to be clear, everyone. Spotify thinks that is more important than protecting kids and keeping work environments professional. *SMH* They just got half a billion dollars in investment. Let's see what they do with it. June 30 can't come soon enough.

Spotify Rewind, Spotify Running, logo colors, Starbucks points, the list of relatively pointless updates during the 3 years this topic has been open is long and frustrating. Just for fun today I browsed the "Amazing Morning Music" playlists that they shove into my feed each day and EVERY ONE OF THEM has songs in them tagged as Explicit. It's essentially "suggestions for the unemployed" because nobody with a job could pull these up and have them playing in their workplace. It's asanine that we are still talking about this when every other music service offers some form of filtering. The clock is ticking and if Spotify doesn't pull this feature out of their collective a$$-es in the next 12 days they are dead to me. It's frustrating enough that if I leave I'm never coming back. I'll burn my $25 a month before I give it to them.

Mr Ek and Co have stopped replying to Twitter messages. I assume that they are contractually bound not to offer filtering; the only other explanation is that they don't listen or care about the monthly subscription. £1000's lost and still no update. My trial with Apple will confirm the death of Spotify.

Spotify, you suck. Big time.
