[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Filtering out explicit songs is really needed for when the family is around. I am surprised it still isn't an option. Please get this happening

Great idea, I would def. use this feature as have children who are now old enough to notice lyrics even vaguely inappropriate!

That this has been a known issue for TWO years now, certainly since before the Jacob Singh post in 2013. The phenomenally slow response we've had from Spotify is very disappointing.

It would presumably be a fairly simple fix - the "explicit" tag already exists, but it is currently worthless for the purpose Spotify is surely intended - to leave the app to stream and not have to worry about each and every song if you're playing it in work as radio, or around young children.

As it stands Spotify is - bluntly - not a family-friendly product.

Please stop delaying and do it.

Many thanks.

This feature missing will for sure lead me to use Apple Music. I understand Spotify not wanting to censor music but I should have the abillity to contol what I want to listen to. I should for sure be able to make sure that a minor is not able to listen to explicit lyrics.

What could be a reason this being under consideration for so long, because this is a no brainer feature to be implemented ASAP? Unbeliavable.

Museic

Why could I hear explicit material one day and not the next?  Is spotify becoming a censorship establishment?  Will I have to cancel my subscription.  If I want to hear explicit material I have the right to...except on spotify?

You're missing the point. We want an OPTION to block explicit songs from search and playlists. We're not asking them to remove explicit music. You can keep your explicit songs.

5 days and counting! Can't wait to jump to Apple Music.

I believe the censored/uncensored button will be coming with the next higher premium package.  There waiting till they get enough people hooked on their product to jack up the price for uncensored music. This inability to access uncensored music also forces people to go by the CD.  Something that people are not doing today.  Just a thought.

@Museic Where did you hear this? Please provide a source. @mistersandman There's no official evidence that says Apple Music will have parental controls of any kid, or explicit filtering, but I'm hoping it does. Either way I'm doing the free trial to find out.
